One of my least favorite story criticisms is complaining that the villain's turn to evil is irrational, as if becoming a villain isn't *inherently* emotional and irrational.

Looking at the video, I have to generously assume this is just for tutorializing for new players for a game series that hasn't seen a main title in 18 years. The opening sequence for Metroid Prime 3 was similarly quippy.

But yeah, they should really tone down that dialogue, because, oof.

Finally got an N64 flash cart and now I can play Sin and Punishment the way it was meant to be played!

BY THE WAY

If you've updated to Windows 11 recently, you're probably on version 25H2.

There's a new setting in Settings: Privacy & Security.

Scroll aaaaaaaalll the way to the bottom and you'll see "Text and Image Generation."

TURN IT OFF.

Now that you’re into the nuanced, political plot of Final Fantasy Tactics, you may be curious about the sequels. Well strap in buddy I hope you like a version of The Neverending Story starring some absolutely rancid boys.

Started Metroid Prime: Federation Force and I can kinda see why people didn't like it when it came out. The mission based structure essentially removes the main appeal of a Metroid game. Admittedly, I'm sure I'd like it better if I were actually playing with other people.

I was expecting to try this game out for a bit and then move on, but I'm actually kinda getting into it. There's something to be said about how the initial grind gives you a chance to feel out the area and your party, and the Auto battle makes it pretty painless.

#EchoesOfWisdom handles a lot of things from BotW/TotK in I think much better ways (exploration while telling a story, creative puzzle design) but still brings some things over from those games that don't really make sense for this game (crafting, lots of warping, that awful inventory UI, quest log)

To summarize
-waves are not seasonal
-vaccines are waning
-people are getting long covid
-it’s still not an endemic disease
-very young kids are at increased risk because they didn’t go through the initial vaccine series

Oh and it turns out, Covid Cautious people have been right the whole time.

I've finally gotten into Donkey Kong 64 despite having the cartridge since I was like 5 years old. I really don't wanna compare it to Mario 64, but I'm really surprised at how...not good the controls are?

I'm about halfway through Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and my impressions so far are that Echoes work really well and make for some great puzzles, but really, really don't work for combat.

FF14 7.3 spoilers

Really liked the ending to FFXIV 7.3. I think Dawntrail as a whole did a much better job at adapting the themes of FF9 than, say, post-Endwalker did with the themes of FF4. As others have said, the cutscene direction has been great lately, Calyx's expression right before

Whatever you think of Dawntrail, it has shown twice that can definitely stick a landing.

I don't want remakes of old games, I want lovingly crafted ports of old games that preserve the original, warts and all, while looking good on modern displays. Make old games legally accessible to a new crowd of people that never got to play them!

This animator did a really good job doing what I usually do: taking old manual artwork and animating it.

Except they took the idea to completion with a whole commercial for the original Legend of Zelda! Give it a watch, it's very well done.
