Difficult to overstate how profound a failure DOGE was. Spending in FY2025 was not only than in FY2024 – but higher than it was projected to be when Trump first took office.*

It's worth reading Mary McCarthy's 1986 review of Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale." Press should stop giving airtime to Trump officials not just at the Pentagon but across all of federal government. Report on the destructive effects of what they do, not on them. We do not in fact have to let Nazis set the terms of public discourse nor give them celebrity status.
