Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2: Grimoire of the Rift is a title longer than my patience for it. It felt like it was going to be an excellent sequel, but the pacing for unlocking items (and thus abilities) was too slow. Unit acquisition was unnecessarily cumbersome too.

This was the exact same sentiment I shared with my friends. It was cool on its own, but also a balm on the rash I've received from the garbage that has been popular gaming news
I will say this for the Valve announcement: it is refreshing to see a product launch that is just "here's a product that you might want. here's what it is. here's what it does" with absolutely no mention of AI, mysterious future features that might arrive OTA, or some extractive business model.

Yes. Yeeeeessss. What happened to us? There's room for striking fidelity and realism, and someone will (and should) always push the boundaries of tech, but it feels like so many are letting the "norm" dictate how they interact with a game.
I think people have decided immersion is largely about achieving a high degree of imagined verisimilitude, but idk you can get lost in a fantasy novel or a painting in much the same way that you do in a video game so
