The introduction of universal dose of Hep B vaccine led to a steep decline in Hep B infections in children. Before 1991, 20,000 newborns/yr were infected. Now it is fewer than 20. This trend will be reversed now. RFK Jr. must go!

The interstellar visitor 3I/ATLAS ☄️ cruising through our Solar System is no alien spaceship and won't hit Earth.

Still, the buzz around it is far from unfounded 🤩

New paper! 🎉 Abandoned mines aren't just leaching trace metals, they're also releasing REEs with systematic diel cycling. Our wetland study revealed distinct light-driven patterns for different REEs. Understanding these processes matters for both ecological risk assessment & remediation planning. 🧪⚒️

We selected for white kernels (left) & red kernels (right) in separate fields. The ears in each photo are a random subset of the those produced in each field.

This is powerfully correct. How can scientists expect to discover new science if we continue bathing in the tepid water of the well-established? Question everything, venture everywhere with wide-open eyes, dare, observe, hypothesize, experiment & discover. It's your role in life. Do it. 🧪👊❤️

in my view the problem started when we forced basic science to be translational. this distorted it's nature and created false expectations, which in turn eroded the trust on basic science.
“Why Are We Funding This?”
Long-standing myths about “silly science” have contributed to the reckless slashing of government-supported research.
