Ending another Late Show with another pick from this....
Song To The Siren, as channelled through Rhoda's deep reverb.
Sets one up for the weekend, so it does. (doesdoesdoesdoes...)
Good night

The mighty Mighty Lemon Drops.
Holding up the wall of independent music through their broad shoulders and electrically operated guitars. Or something.
Happy Head. Sounding most excellent on the Late Show wMB.

I remember seeing this in Ken's Records in Derry in the seventies while flicking through the 'D's but never stopped to smell it.
I didn't realise there was a great version of Big Yellow Taxi on it, either.
Years later, I get the chance to play it on the radio to mark Joni's birthday.

I think this is Merrill from Tune Yards. But I can't identify the bubble gum. I suspect it may be Bazooka Joe.
While I check that, have another listen to the brilliant Sand Into Stone. Now on the LSwMB.

A lot of great music related books are out ... it must be the tinsel that's attracting them.
This should be good. I mean, you can always trust a Michael to tell the truth.
Mr Joyce's drums on Interesting Drug can be heard on the Late Show wMB.

The very first sighting of Bands On A Bench. Dolly Mixture, 1913.
Debsy's new book 'Teenage Daydream' is getting some tip top reviews.
Which is cheering.
Side Street Walker, from the Demonstration Tapes, now sounding marvellous on the Late Show.

Meg takes a rest.
Two great records out at the one time - both called Running Errands.
(Yesterday) and (Today)
Same song, different treatments.

Camper Van Beethoven. Looking like they'd washed their faces for the photographer.
Their finest three minutes about short hair people going to an alley, is now on The Late Show.

Side Two was recorded in Southend this weekend fifty years ago.
Still brilliant, even though the Disc Jockey has started to think the studio records are better.
But when Lee starts I'm A Hog For You Baby, all such thoughts disappear.
Now on the LSwMB

To mark Joni's birthday, the Late Show is playing The Supremes version of All I Want.
And I hope this photo is of the line up from the record.
Never mind the picture, listen to the record. Produced by Jimmy Webb. So , you know, nothing more needs to be said.

It's Ratboys. From Chicago.
To be fair, I wouldn't have gone with that name.
But then, band names become good when the records are great. Like their new single, Anywhere.
Now on the LSwMB

Paul Buckmaster's strings from the original Space Oddity were absent from Dave's 1979 version. But his work is heard on this nugget. Now on the LSwMB.

David Bowie leaves the seventies and starts the eighties on the Kenny Everett TV Show.
New Years Eve 1979, he did a brilliant version of Space Oddity. Thankfully it was recorded.
Now on the Late Show. With a great , nerve wracking silence to replace the whooshing on the original.
