Anyone else getting random emails to become "an official nominator" for the VinFutures prize? Every year I get a spate of emails from these people. Google suggests it's a real thing, but rings alarm bells for some reason. Anyone heard of this thing?

Even iconic British brands are not UK-owned and are draining wealth to other countries. Jaguar Land Rover, BT & EE, Costa, water companies, Royal Mail, Sarsons, Aston Marton, Bentley ...

It's a long list.
The UK has become a colony. Foreign corporations, private equity, hedge funds etc own many businesses, pay very little, siphon the profits away and use schemes to avoid taxes.

Wealth is drained from the UK.

You can START to address this by taxing them. /1

Damn, immense speech from Carney! Makes me proud to be a Canadian-by-marriage! Other prime ministers could take some notes here...
This is the best speech, just from a pure rhetoric perspective - its sophistication and persuasiveness - that I've seen a politician deliver in a good long while. Really recommend watching or reading the whole thing.
