What is Close Reading?
By transforming quotations into evidence, close reading served as way to transform postwar criticism into a specialized knowledge. But what if we treated it more as an art form?

Between this and the proposal by Goebbels 2.0 to suspend habeas corpus, it's feeling like we're cooked. This is a course in which there is no other option than intensification. And don't be fooled - Noem having overspent the budget is no real barrier. They will find the money.

the Vichy New York Times is constitutionally incapable of writing about an ongoing coup with anything other than the tones of a person worried about their neighbor's taste in house paint.
I was glad to see the NYT taking this seriously enough to write a story about it. But then I read it, and there's not one iota of pushback, or critical context, not even a "critics say". Pure stenography. Absolutely shameful for something this outrageous. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/09/u...

(2) Don’t regulate us. It’s too late. Our tech is everywhere.
