It's a gorgeous Maine day, and I'd love to be outside, but I have to be in my studio making pretty things.

As consolation, I stopped at #TwoFatCats to pick up storm supplies*. Let it snow!!!! ❄️ ❄️❄️❄️❄️

If any Portland area gardeners are #wintersowing this year and need jugs, let me know. I have lots of gallon jugs, and will have more available every week.

Brilliant. I wonder if anything like this will be created in Maine, if needed.
If you live in the Cities, an easy way to help immigrant families in hiding is: laundry! Laundromats are ICE magnets, so people without washers need help.

The People’s Laundry will drop off laundry to your door to wash and dry and pick up a few days later:

It’s really really super really frustrating to be so old that I’ve been screaming into the void about how the right wing fascists are planning to destroy this country since 1980’s Reagan and how every election since has been ‘the most important election of our lives’ and…*sigh* I was not wrong.

Oh, oh, oh…art challenge!!!!!
it’s okay to commission one of your artist friends to steal the text off of an AI meme and make a better one with actual art

no one can stop you

Christmas is nice and whatever, but Pączki showed up in my grocery store today and this is truly The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

I used to love football but now I don’t give a rats ass about it and even I’m happy that the Packers lost today. Um, er, I mean that the Bears won today.
a group of football players are standing on a stage holding microphones .
Alt: Short clip from the 1985 video called The Super Bowl Shuffle. It shows Chicago Bears football players in uniform and dancing. It was a charity fundraiser video.

Settled in for a quiet TV Saturday night. Tried People We Meet On Vacation, but Henry wrote only one good book and this was not it, so I tried His & Hers because it’s a genre I love but omg it’s so tedious.

Guess I’m gonna have to watch Heated Rivalry, again. Please send condolences and wine.

All I get is politics (much of that is reposts), art, and birds. I follow 1.7K accounts and probably never see 90% of them. I’ve pinned a lot of feeds, but most don’t have a lot of activity. On the other side, I have almost 1K followers and it feels like only a few ever see my posts.

Frustrating.
i think this site really needs to figure out how to grow the non-politics verticals (the baseball moment was a good thing!) because i suspect a lot of the bad clusters come out of the political clusters driving 95% of ENG-lang posts
I'd be happy with big non politics accounts.

It’s been so cold lately in Maine that my first thought when I noticed the outside temp is 25 degrees (at 1-sh am) was ‘wow, it’s warm tonight'

Seed buying day continues….

Realized that one pack of basil seeds costs less than one basil plant at the nursery *adds a dozen herb seed varieties to order*

Found a very pretty echinacea collection and decided that the far corner of my back yard could use some color

It’s seed buying day. I have so many left from last year that I only need a few things, but the temptation to buy a bunch of ‘oh, pretty!’ has hit.

I don’t need 250 fancy viola seeds in 5 very pretty colors. My yard’s not that big, and no one sells the seeds in packs of 10 🤣

2025 is gone, my tummy is full of chocolate tartlet and champagne. Time to start 2026 curled up on the sofa with a good book….

Happy New Year and sweet dreams, y’all.

Nicely done, Patrick. Happy New Year!
Makes me think #NewYearsEveIridescence would be a fun photo thing!

One of my favorite things about New Year's is that wishing someone a Happy New Year offends pretty much no one and it's a thing I can say to everyone I interact with from Dec 26th through most of January.

NYE dinner was lobster mac 'n cheese - lobster meat from a waterfront seafood place over Amato's baked macaroni and cheese. An easy and tummy tradition on either Xmas Eve or NYE since we moved to #Maine
