After making fools of themselves for days, police seem to have given up on chasing protesters through the streets and trying to block their every move.

Have written for the New Statesman about why, if he will not accept an apology, the BBC should welcome a Trump lawsuit. They should show guts and fight it because impartially matters and if they don't, they will have tacitly accepted a rewritten history.

This week Nathan Gill, Reform UK’s Leader in Wales will be sentenced for 8 charges of Russian bribes.

Here’s Farage calling him an “honest, decent and honourable man”.

Let’s not forget that whilst he was taking the bribes, Farage was making similar pro-Russian speeches in the European Parliament.

Immigration is NOT tearing this country apart.

Politicians like Farage and Mahmodo are tearing it apart by their divisive rhetoric and dishonest framing of the known facts behind immigration.

I despise them for it.

Now 10 years here isn’t long enough. It has to be 20 years.

What a disgrace.

Not the first to make this point. But there is a tyrant in charge of another country who is accused of being heavily linked to a paedophile sex ring - and supposed ‘patriots’ in this country are passionately willing him to take down our national broadcaster. Madness.

"as the decades pass, & fewer & fewer Shakespeares & Austens & Orwells emerge from your little island, even more people will begin to suspect that in truth you do not value culture at all, & are in fact running a giant heritage museum in which the only cultural workers you respect are the dead ones"

This thread puts a few things in context regarding the turmoil in the BBC. An organised right wing conspiracy isn't overstating things.
I'm not sure if others have noticed this, but interesting that one of the Prescott criticisms of the BBC is based on those of the 'History Reclaimed' group, which is also associated with the 'Restore Trust' group's attacks on & so far unsuccessful attempts to take control of the National Trust. 1/3

We seem to have a government which prefers to stand on the sidelines uselessly wringing its hands while an existential battle is being fought to preserve liberal democracy in the face of a growing far-right threat.
UK Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy’s response to a call to sack BBC board member Robbie Gibb: “In relation to the board she will be aware that the charter sets a strict legal threshold that must be met before dismissal of a board member. I am unable to pursue the course of action that she suggests.”

Ed Davey calls for Robbie Gibb to be removed from the BBC board.

The problem with Gibb is not that he is right-wing. The problem is that he is a fanatic who instead of trying to put his political prejudices aside, works to impose them on the BBC.

If we're talking about bias, why do BBC politics programmes, from Politics Live to the Laura Kuennsberg Show, still always begin with a look at the newspaper front pages, which are overwhelmingly biased in one direction. Helps frame the entire news agenda and debate in their favour

Robbie Gibb was appointed to the BBC Board by Boris Johnson, was an editorial advisor for GB News, and worked as Theresa May's Director of Comms.

He is not impartial or neutral. The government should remove him from the Board immediately to protect the BBC's independence.

Should Gibb be sacked? yes, obviously. He's an abomination of basic journalistic standards. His GB News channel spreads conspiracy theory & disinformation. His Jewish Chronicle newspaper spreads invented stories. He is plainly trying to undermine the BBC so it's as bad as everything else he touches.
