Figured if anyone got a kick out of it, @gailsimone.bsky.social might. My husband went as Catman to #Connecticon and mixed a few versions.

Unlike him, I'm not serious so I went as Booster Gold, Space Cabbie, and Sexx Luthor--yeah, like Robot Chicken DC Special 2.

Shameless or delirious from work?

Hey folks,

I'm mostly posting on Instagram because of the costumes.

Also TIIIIGHT writing deadlines!

Maybe if you got your head out of your ass and looked at the overwhelmingly high percentage of cismale authors who are published over any other demographic, you'd realized your work is getting passed because it sucks.

I keep trying to get on board with Bsky, and I just can't figure this darn site out. :(

I haven't talked about Val Kilmer because it's very sad for me. "Batman Forever" changed my life. I had it on VHS. I watched it all the time. It... honestly explains a LOT about me in general.

Some people were very cruel to him when he was grappling with health. So cruel.

This is sad.

Good.
NaNoWriMo: partnered with vanity presses that prey on authors, had a child grooming scandal, accusations of being a hostile work environment and all volunteers quit or got fired, started heavily promoting AI and called people ableist for being anti-AI

Also NaNoWriMo: No one wants to give us money 😔
Less than a year after a full-throated embrace of AI, NaNoWriMo is shutting down :

Hi new friends! You might have recently followed me because of my posts trying to educate about piracy and the royalties authors get from the library.

Please introduce yourself!

I'm a bigender, queer, ND writer and costume designer. I'm responsible for JERKBAIT and SOMEBODY TOLD ME. I love cats.

I don't like the cosplaying poor from people defending piracy. It's easy to tell when the information is wildly incorrect, usually when people talk about food stamps since it's been SNAP for a long time with EBT cards. You... don't bring physical stamps from other states...

Finally found it. The average book thief makes between 60k and 99K USD.

The average author makes around 10k. Most pirates are stealing from people worse off than themselves. But they cosplay as poor or use poor people as a shield to justify their class warfare.

I'm not very active on Bsky.
I'm alarmed at how many people are supporting piracy right to authors' faces when we're sharing how it's affected us and we're providing ways to read our work for free while we get paid.
The lack of empathy coupled with entitlement is astounding. Usually people assist.

Author Complaints at Clear Fork Press - Writer Beware
In early February, author Vanessa Keel published a long, cautionary blog post about her experience with one small publisher. It was not a happy tale: an absent editor, little marketing support, a non-...

Under the advice of some folk, I blocked that person who did the fanfic dig at me (which 1) I don't like because literally it's the biggest honor ever when an author receives fan-work, ever, and 2) I don't like because I take IP really seriously).

I'm just... sad they chose war rather than library.

Lunch would be absolutely fucking amazing.
Every writer whose work has been stolen should be allowed to visit the Meta offices and just take whetever they want. Office supplies, computers, chairs, people’s jackets and lunches, whatever. Give it.
Meta used at least 16 of my books, and numerous articles, to help train the AI it will use to make billions.

Authors, search your name here:

I’m going to be very blunt and say: do not send Atthis Arts any money or manuscripts. The four-alarm red-flag phrase here is “borrow … to pay due royalties.”

Let me explain for those who don’t already know roughly how money works in small presses.

I will fight for libraries and librarians. I love LIBRARIANS!!!

Also Book Bloggers? Your work is so underappreciated. Seriously, your kindness got me through some ROUGH times and I learned from YOU.

I usually don't fight with people online--

--unless it comes to piracy where it affects me, my colleagues, my industry, where all of us are struggling to make ends meet, get food, and I'm called a scarecrow?

So like... The Wiz or Jonathan Crane? I'd prefer The Wiz's Scarecrow.

The person who punched Richard Spencer and instantly made him a meme never got caught. Just threw one punch and skipped off into immortality. I think about that a lot.
one of the most important things to learn, if you're out there doing things:

you don't get to talk about it.

you don't get to brag about it, you don't get to tell your friends, you don't get drinks bought for you in the bar off the story.

it's *always* shut the fuck up friday
