I’ve run events in the Concert Hall. I’ve gone to the opera, jazz concerts, musicals, and plays. The Kennedy Center is a special place. I am terrified about what this means. And who is paying???
REPORTER: Do you plan on tearing down the Kennedy Center during renovations?

TRUMP: “I’m not ripping it out, I’ll be using the steel. So, we’re using the structure. We’re using some of the marble, and some of the marble comes down.”

You can tell Mayor Bowser isn’t running again. Because if she was, DC streets and sidewalks would be passable.

Turns out it’s impossible to go through the history of women’s service in the US military in 17 minutes, but I had fun giving it the old college try. If anyone’s needs it, my segment (or the whole show) might make for a good lesson starter. 🗃️🗺️ www.iowapublicradio.org/podcast/rive...

Look at this: @inquirer.com has digitally preserved the interpretative signage removed by NPS, and used annotations to explain what specifically was flagged before removal. This keeps the content publicly accessible (for now) while doing newsworthy reporting

This afternoon, the Trump administration removed exhibits about slavery at the President's House in Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia. The city's mayor has already filed a lawsuit challenging the removal.
The slavery exhibits at the President’s House have been removed following Trump administration push
President Donald Trump and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum ordered content at national parks that “inappropriately disparage” the U.S. to be reviewed and potentially removed.

Same. Once you do it, you won’t go back.
This is a good thread to read. I will only add that I do not get ANY social-media notifications or news alerts on my phone and it is a foundational building block of my sanity that no nonhuman entity, not even Bluesky, gets to initiate conversations with me.
That's how I'm going to approach social media going forward. I'll get on it when I want to sit down at a computer and physically go to a website, or when I have to use it for work during work hours, but it's not going to be in my pocket notifying me of every single DM, like or reply instantly. 6/

Blueskis, studies have shown that when folks see or hear about a book more than five times, they are likely to check it out, and buy it.

So in the spirit of creating buzz, here is the gorgeous cover of THE WESTERNERS, which will be published on March 31!

“Can’t believe NYC elected a Muslim as mayor.”

In truth—a Black American Christian woman swearing in a Ugandan American Muslim of South Asian ethnicity as his Syrian American wife holds the Qurans he swears in on, all while standing on the steps of a subway station—is the most NYC thing imaginable.
