Chancellor & Dean David Faigman’s Law Day message draws on U.S. legal history to consider what leaders of the past would think about the state of the union today. “I write today in defense of core principles that should ground all policy debates regardless of one’s politics: respect for the law.”

It astounds me that he was able to convince so many people that everything was fake news and only he, a prolific liar, was the only one telling the truth. Granted Faux News helped, but there is a serious lack of critical thinking and a willful ignorance of at least 1/3 of Americans.

So, uh, it certainly looks like DOJ intended to file a letter to Judge Liman in MTA v. Duffy, but….it accidentally filed a letter containing its legal advice to the Department of Transportation instead

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

This is a very important point.

"Fiduciary duty" requires Board members and administration to act in the best interests of the university.

But this is NOT limited to finances!

Has Columbia's Board really kept its fiduciary duty when it has SO damaged the university's reputation (or "brand" 🤮)?
Don’t understand the notion that there is a tension between upholding core principles and ideals, and fiduciary responsibility. If a leader doesn’t defend core principles to the hilt, the institution will be an empty shell and still wrecked financially. Maybe ask employees if that’s what they want?

The following Democrats in the House of Representatives voted in favor of the SAVE Act:
* Rep. Ed Case of Hawaii
* Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas
* Rep. Jared Golden of Maine
* Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington.
A wide range of voters would be restricted by this law. If cannot pass.

If you’ve ever sat on an NEH review panel (as many of us have), you know how difficult it is to win a grant. It’s an incredibly exacting process, with way too many excellent projects competing for funding. Awardees are scrutinized from every direction, with more rigor than DOGE can even imagine.

This feels like the defining image from this year’s Midwest Political Science Association annual meeting.

The National Science Foundatipn paid for a booth in the exhibit hall. But the booth sits empty, because NSF has been DOGE’d, and there is no one left to send.

Trump just pardoned crypto firm BitMex for violating money laundering laws — making him potentially the first president in American history to pardon a corporation.

It's truly a new Golden Age for corporate crime.

Trump and Elon are ignoring the more than 32m entrepreneurs that can't afford to build a new factory or pay tariffs or absorb cancelled contracts.

Welp, DOGE just cancelled our NEH grant for a summer institute discussing Buddhism and nature, which likely saved the government less money than the salary of a single DOGE crony.

Sen. Booker’s speech was a substantive and moral account of this moment. He did not read the phone book. He did not babble.
For 24 hours @booker.senate.gov laid out a detailed, damning, and critical narrative of truth, history, politics, morality, humanity.

What will you do?
