First they cut public-serving programs. Then they wiped $962 million in “savings” from their site. DOGE is playing games with people’s lives while communities and workers deal with the fallout.
Nearly $1 billion of DOGE ‘savings’ vanish overnight
More than $900 million in claimed ‘savings’ were quietly removed from DOGE’s ‘wall of receipts’ this week

The Department of Education’s RIF’ed lawyers are collecting their personal belongings Monday 12-1pm, at 500 12th street SW — not the main building. Let's steer some folks their way for a clap out. Right now they’re assuming no one will show up for them and planning to make their own signs 😢

What a weekend!
Across the U.S., over 100,000 Americans mobilized — including more than 34,000 attendees at the Bernie/AOC rally, marking the biggest political event since Obama. Protests erupted in multiple states to defend Social Security, Tesla takedown protest gained momentum, and so much more!

Who will be our brave Department of Education warriors that will show up at these buildings and protect our identifiable student data?

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.

This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

Remember, the president does not have the authority to unilaterally shut down the Education Department. Doing so would require an act of Congress and at least 60 votes in the Senate.

Montana & Wyoming want to undo a Biden decision to end new coal leases in the Powder River Basin—where more than 43% of US domestic coal & over 85% of federal coal comes from. Coal pollution contributes to lung disease, cancer, & preterm births. We're going to court.
Our Communities Can’t Afford More Coal Pollution, So We’re Going to Court
Coal is an expensive, dirty, and dangerous energy source. We're not going back to it.

Ohio bill was just proposed to make it unlawful for teachers to go on strike.

Why do you think that is?

We will try to remain up-to-date on laws like this attempting to hold workers back from fighting for their rights. better workplace environments & a better America. But we can’t do it alone.
Cont’d…

It will be necessary to stir things up in order to fundamentally change a complex web of systems that make up our governing body & all its arms.

Legislature is being pushed rapidly under the new administration to prevent sectors from going on strike. Take Ohio, for example…
Q: “Can’t I get fired for striking?”

The right to strike is protected by the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) & is considered a fundamental labor right for US workers.

And, depending on the sector & industry in which you work, various laws dictate whether a strike is legal + when it can occur.

I'm a believer in smart policy, but all the finger-pointing in the LA firestorm about hydrant flows and LAFD budgets seems like arguing about the adequacy of Hiroshima's 1945 building code standards. It's a way to evade the big questions.

So I did an interesting thing. Using the square mileage of NJ vs all land on Earth, created a proportion to calculate % of money NJ would receive as if receiving funds from COP29 300B pledge. Total = $37,500. That would even put a dent in remedies of environmental harm in a single city.
