Did this with my year 13s in #Alevelmaths as a gentle warm up.

Getting them to guess what f(x) and g(x) was and to find each area depending on their functions was less gentle! #Mathstoday

Thought it might be useful to have a post of which exam boards people use for Maths, to help find each other when we have queries etc about the specification or where to find resources. Add yourself in a comment below if you're happy for people to know what you do- no obligation to do anything else!

📋 Assessment writing (across all key stages). Would love to see what is common practice out there. Do other maths departments rewrite their unit/end of year assessments every year? Do you ever reuse them? Please share as I’d love to hear back! #MathsToday @mathsjem.bsky.social

These look like a great resource for A level maths:
www.alphaworkbooks.co.uk
They are closing down, so his books are currently free to download from his website until the website closes. #Alevelmaths

I crowd-sourced a list of maths-themed books recently. Not so well-curated as yours, but if anybody gets the bug and wants more, they can find the list and some background info here: tommaths.blogspot.com/2024/09/book...
Books That Are About Maths, But Not About Teaching It
A list of books about mathematics (but not teaching). This list was compiled from suggestions made by maths fans in responses to a social media post.

In #MathsToday, I created this resource to help my Year 11s with their approach to the last question of a Higher paper. Idea is from goalfreeproblems.blogspot.com, worked answers and videos from mathsgenie.co.uk/papers.php. Made each question a goal free problem: www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/73vd8...

I used to encourage students to highlight F or Z shapes for parallel lines questions, but today I just told Y9 to highlight the transversal. It’s an easier first step, and they were almost always then able to immediately see what to do next.

Also, I love these MathsPad questions!

What mathematical enrichment opportunities (ran internally or something you take part in externally) are available for your KS3 students, aside from UKMT? Would love to hear from schools in the UK and internationally #MathsToday

In #MathsToday I got asked by my Year 11 student-‘How can I “train” myself to access or attempt to pick up marks on the last question of a paper?’which made me think..how am I preparing my top set Year 11 for the last few questions? This was in reference to the last question of the 2024 June Paper 3

In #MathsToday I’m looking for ideas/research links for what effective feedback looks like in maths. This could be for an end of term/end of unit assessment or any type of formative / summative test. Would really appreciate comments on what you do that works across any key stage! Thank you 🙌🏼

Looking to see if any international British curriculum schools offer alternative provision for students that aren’t able to access KS3/GCSE Maths? 🙌🏼 Would love to hear what you have in place. Thank you. #MathsToday

#mathstoday How do you develop or focus on mathematical oracy in your classroom?

In #MathsToday, we trialled a new approach to tackling worded problems. It’s very interesting to see what students class as ‘key words’. We have a way to go but I think it’s a good start!
