Getting them to guess what f(x) and g(x) was and to find each area depending on their functions was less gentle! #Mathstoday

Thought it might be useful to have a post of which exam boards people use for Maths, to help find each other when we have queries etc about the specification or where to find resources. I used to encourage students to highlight F or Z shapes for parallel lines questions, but today I just told Y9 to highlight the transversal. It’s an easier first step, and they were almost always then able to immediately see what to do next.

In #MathsToday, we trialled a new approach to tackling worded problems. It’s very interesting to see what students class as ‘key words’. We have a way to go but I think it’s a good start!
