Year 11 had one more lesson on Vectors. (They had been over complicating it)
Did end up using the Dr Austin resources. Which I of course had to do first so my brain could get round all of the questions.

I used this template slide to introduce sharing in a ratio with Y9 in #MathsToday (yesterday)

The "blank is best" approach to slides is a powerful tool for responsive teaching.

GCSE maths anxiety is rising, and teachers are feeling the pressure too. Maths Revolution shares simple, steady approaches that help students build confidence and stick with it. A reassuring read for anyone teaching GCSE this term.

What’s everyone’s experience of students managing their maths exercise books? Loose worksheets are a problem. We’ve tried gluing in but then it can get costly. We’re currently trialing hole punching books and using treasury tags but students struggle with the dexterity needed & organisation. Ideas?

#mathstoday Y7 were carrying on with the work on reading scales, including where the scale is less obvious. Y9 were factorising again, using an adapted version of one of @draustinmaths.com worksheets on factorising single brackets. Y10 were doing some independent practice on 2-step equations

Probability with Y12. I really like this RiSP about independent events, and this great MathsPad activity to practise the different definitions. It felt like we covered a lot in today’s lesson! #ALevelMaths #MathsToday

Year 11 did more construction which allowed me to show off my antique compasses.
They are most likely from the 1940s or 50s according to my grandma (whose had them this whole time)

Used this in #MathsToday in an attempt to get all of my Y10 understanding composite functions (a few were struggling after I introduced it yesterday).

One pupil joked "they liked maths again" at the end of the lesson so I'll take that as a win!

#mathstoday y10 did some independent practice on solving 1-step (or single operation) equations.
Y9 started expanding and simplifying double brackets - considering their starting point, they are doing brilliantly. Y7 finished off the measures unit with converting units of mass and capacity
