This quote says it all. You get to decide what your child reads, but that same right belongs to other parents too. Freedom means choice, not control.

When we start deciding what *other people’s* kids can read, we cross from guidance into censorship.

Respect your values. Let others do the same.

Repeat after Florida Freedom to Read: “One parent’s concern shouldn’t become every child’s restriction”
"Parental rights" laws were never intended for all parents. They allow a chosen few to define community standards and force restrictions on everyone's children.

If we disagree with these limits on our children's education, we are ignored, shamed, and disrespected.

Ohio libraries may be required to remove items on sexual orientation from kid's sections
Libraries may be required to keep material on gender identity and sexual orientation away from kids. But librarians say that's unworkable and costly.

This quote reminds us that open, honest conversations between parents and kids are the antidote to fear… and fear is what fuels censorship. When we trust young readers and engage with them about what they read, we build critical thinking, connection, and empathy.

This piece is about Ohio public libraries and it's about how crucial it is in this moment to have documentation of every action being proposed or made.

If it's not on paper, it doesn't exist.

If it's on paper*, we have something to point to.

*you don't need me to caveat what this means.
