I think what progressives miss about mass disability from covid is it takes people out of the movement.
I canvassed, phone banked, called reps, volunteered at the polls, wrote letters, advocated locally, mentored.
Now, all I can do is… couch. From one stinking covid infxn.

The journalist who coined the phrase “the #GreatestMEdicalScandal of the 21st century” got interested in ME after this same psych lobby accused him of spreading Long Covid by writing about it. He was so taken aback by their absurdity that he investigated further:

For those lucky enough to live outside the nightmare world of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, the man discussed here (Simon Wessely) leads a powerful psych lobby w/ a long history of gaslighting sick people—from Gulf War vets to 9/11 first responders to poisoned Iranian school girls to ME & Long Covid
LOL (laughing to keep from crying). So the cartoon villain who has terrorized sick people for decades threatened to sue if this book didn’t include more of “his side,” but instead of investigating a clear pattern of intimidation to maintain a chokehold on scientific progress, we get…more chokehold
I don't think the PACE trial was robust and don't argue that. I'm so sorry you are reading the book this way. I have several people with ME read the book. Let's connect off line; Wessely read a version of the writing & threatened to sue me if it didn't include the other side. Happy to talk offline.

Sometimes I forget that normies don’t understand the “possible permanent decline” part. Yes, getting sick after basic tasks is terrible enough. But we want to LIVE. If we could assuredly recover we’d do ALL THE THINGS, get sick, recover & repeat. That alone would be life-changing. #MECFS #LongCovid
People with #MECFS, and many with #LongCOVID experience post-exertional malaise: a flare of symptoms after activity. The response is disproportionate to the activity and can lead to permanent drops in functional capacity.
