We shouldn’t accept forced removals and involuntary treatment that ignore people’s rights and dignity. Real support means compassion, not control.

We need evidence-based, trauma-informed care not harmful policies disguised as “help” to desperate families.

#ableg continues to harm Albertans. 😡

300 characters can't capture the depth .. This sketch contrasts public safety narratives with the lived reality of marginalized people. Surrounded by words like "trauma," "evicted," and "no beds," it highlights how systemic barriers and stigma leave many feeling unsafe, unseen, and unsupported.

I've been making great progress on a manuscript I'd been struggling with. This morning, while reflecting on the writing process of this specific paper, I figured out 3 things that have been working well and have helped me move forward with this paper:

Just finished Mark Carney's presser, no media questions about the trans community (come on, people) and no mention of Trans Day of Visibility from Carney in the press conference.
It’s Trans Day of Visibility today, and we’re in an election campaign.

I’ll definitely be watching to see who mentions trans folks’ rights and who doesn’t!

Forced data collection by Recovery Alberta will potentially be used in the implementation of forced treatment.

Drug user rights are willfully eroded while the recovery industry scores sole source contracts.

Forced treatment is another way of criminalization of people who use drugs. We need rapid access to voluntary evidenced based treatment, housing, support for trauma and investment in harm reduction to keep people well.

Not so “compassionate intervention” - criminalization with a different name - has been announced in Alberta. While those who want treatment still wait weeks and months, those who don’t, will be forced into privately run treatment jails.

My favorite PhD cohort mate had his state grant application (not the Feds!) pulled because he submitted to a diversity PA.

They won’t add it to omnibus so it can get reviewed, it’s just trashed because he’s Latino and expressly said so in the application.

This is racism enforced by policy.

Just a reminder: Workers on strike use strikes as leverage. You apply some uncomfortable pain to pressure points in our system.

Here, Canada Post workers made the right move: apply pressure in the busiest time of the year regarding deliveries. That's what strikes are all about. (1/3)
