NEW: Without USAID funding to help buy food for refugees, the World Food Program rushed to prioritize families based on need, determining that only half the population would get food.

Refugees learned which half they were in from a number stamped on the back of their ration card.

Floroquinolone antibiotics (such as Cipro) are also a quinoline derivative like mefloquine. “Floxing” (the adverse effects from Floroquinolone Poisoning) are now officially recognized by the CDC.

Wow. Scientists have edited mosquito DNA to prevent the spread of malaria to humans "while supporting essential physiological functions... and negligible fitness costs" to the mosquito population.

Potentially ending the mosquito-born spread of malaria to humans.

I love the Peace Corps (Kenya, Deaf Ed, 08-10)! Part of me loves my experience. Part of me wishes that I'd never gone and been give #mefloquine #lariam. But none of me wishes for the destruction of this amazing institution!
"The volunteers are still in the field—for now. But the spine is gone. The trainers, the placement officers, the veterans who could see trouble before it came—that architecture is vanishing, one resignation letter at a time."
