That mission, of course, was to destroy the BBC.

This was a good read. It's focus on the boomerang effect reminds Americans that imperial adventures are: not new, pushed most aggressively by hardline factions of conservatives, industrialists & finance, and redound badly on the US itself and its people. Also See Chalmers on 'blowback'.
Did I use my newsletter for some self-promotion? Yes. Am I also making the urgent case that Trump is returning to an early-20th Century style of militarized imperialism at home and abroad? Also yes. Do I wish my book was a lot less relevant? Every day.

Important work by @skynewsrss.bsky.social proving - as many of us have experienced - that X’s algorithm is systematically boosting far-right and extreme content in the UK, confirming similar findings elsewhere.

Governments must act before it’s too late.

More media consolidation in the wings, this time in the UK, as ITV engages in talks with Comcast-owned Sky Ltd. for £1.6 billion. ITV has never been the same since blowing itself up in the mid-2000s. www.londonstockexchange.com/news-article...

O'Leary's just another pompous buffoon. Too bad that he's Canadian. Let him continue pandering to Trump and be an annoying prat here, but glad that @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social is paying him no mind.
Canadian multimillionaire and Shark Tank guy Kevin O'Leary went on TV to say he's upset Zohran won't talk to him: "I and others who invest in real estate have tried to get a meeting to figure out what's rhetoric and what's policy. So far for me it's been crickets."

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵

Medicine, my friend, does not bind a nation like geography.
Interesting tidbit in the federal budget: $1 million/year for Canadian Geographic. It's a perfectly fine publication (although not what it once was), but it already receives support through the Canada Periodical Fund. Why extra money for CanGeo and not, say, the Canadian Medical Association Journal?

FIFA boss has his face up Trump's ass. The transnational elite class consists of a bunch of losers from the highest ranks of finance, industry, sports, media, political parties, and government. None seem to have any sense of shame.
FIFA, soccer’s international governing body, said it will begin bestowing an annual peace prize.

The inaugural award will be presented to an as-yet-unnamed honoree at the draw next month for the 2026 men’s World Cup.

What @adamserwer.bsky.social says about US elites being chickenshit in the face of the clownish autocrat Trump applies to elites the world over. This includes the leadership in the Liberal Govt of Canada and PM Carney who go out of their way to ingratiate themselves with the orange buffoon.
I do think yesterday’s results reinforced the dynamic that while much of the American leadership class is chickenshit, most of the electorate is not

Canada's Prime Minister Carney needs to hear this message, as does every other supplicant bending the knee to the ludicrous and laughable DJ Trump
Mamdani: "We can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves. After all, if anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him."
