Massachusetts house passes a bill to require licensing for home care agencies.
Yep, that's right. Currently, no license required to hang a home care shingle. True in more than half of US states. No background checks required. Not even training.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

I have so many feelings about this story!

Back in the early 90s, it was *inconceivable* that HIV would be a "geriatric" disease.

This story says that by 2030, 70% of those w/HIV will be 50+, and advises nursing homes to start thinking about these residents.

‘Ready to care?’ Nursing homes begin to grapple with nation’s aging HIV population
HIV has been a disease of younger adults, but the need for long-term care is increasing as more patients surpass their 50th birthdays and develop comorbidties much more common in older people.
