what's the stupidest/randomest Simpsons quote that lives in your head rent free? Mine is the urge to say "you said go to bread" every time I am about to head to bed.

Gotta hand it to Labour - just when you think they’ve peaked, they always find a bigger rake.

One of the unexpected things I've learned from my advocacy for trans people is how malignant parts of the State can be, how it can misuse data for positively evil purposes. It's taught me people can't be safe with a digital ID card and so I've signed this. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/73...

I’m curious how my MP @kimleadbeatermp.bsky.social would respond to the points below, raised by an expert, which are in my opinion extremely valid criticisms of the Online Safety Act. The most technically illiterate legislation possible.
A number of people have said ‘you don’t like the Online Safety Act - what’s *your* solution?’
My answer to that is ‘solution to what?’ The biggest problem with the Online Safety Act is that it claims to deal with a lot of disparate, disconnected and often very vague problems. 🧵 1/6

Let’s be clear. The problem is the Online Safety Act. It’s not Labour, it’s not the Tories, it’s both of them. The act had cross party support.
The act is the biggest piece of censorship in the U.K. since the Second World War.

Americans don't understand that the rest of the world just laughs when they claim to be the country of 'freedom'. They get about 4 days off work a year, no maternity or sick leave, no free healthcare, democracy is owned by billionaires, you arent even free to cross a street.

After some...not so lovely responses to my article about skipping bosses last week, I've tried to reply to the most common arguments in as good-faith a way as I can.
I hope this can be something to point to when encountering any of the retorts.

Just a few months before I got married, my fiancé told me I should stop eating sausages. When I inquired why she said “because you may as well just strap them to the underside of your chin”. I stopped eating sausages and still married her.
What's the most brutal insult you've ever heard in your language? I think the most savagely specific one that I've ever encountered was from Finnish... sun gradu oli varmaan 20 sivua. It means "your thesis was probably 20 pages long"

Being LGBTQ+ friendly has been part of my mission from day one, as I believe there are too many spaces which are hostile towards marginalized individuals
As much as I wish I didn't have to announce that I am a safe space for queer/trans/gay persons, I must.

The UK's political and media class has spent years heaping sadism on trans people, and they want to do the same in Ireland next. Calls for civility and calm won't cut it. We need to fight them tooth and nail.
