My student Burak did a very careful job to to test a lineage marking system using live imaging plus math modeling to figure out if it is actually working or not! Great job, you are the best!

I have mentored some of the most talented undergraduate students under this program. They have all continued on to successful careers in biomedical research thanks in large part to this experience. The loss of talent will be devastating.

The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

I've met with many cabinet nominees across many admins, and my meeting with RFK Jr. was by far the most troubling.

He rattled off debunked conspiracy theories & lied to my face—denying his own statements he'd made on record. We cannot confirm an anti-vaxxer as Secretary of Health.

The negative consequences of disassembling the federal government will be felt later by most ppl, more immediately by others. Musk & the ideologues around him know that. That's why they're moving so fast, before the horrors of their libertarian dystopia become apparent & a course correction happens.

Musk's propaganda focusing on individual items in US AID's budget is part of the authoritarian assault on the concept of "a public good." By turning every penny the US gov't spends into a topic of public deliberation (and potential ridicule), they are trying to turn people against democracy itself.

This is what amounts to an ILLEGAL & indiscriminate funding cut for research centers everywhere. It will mean shuttering labs across the country, layoffs in red & blue states, and derailing lifesaving research on everything from cancer to opioid addiction.

We all need to speak out to save lives.
