The story of Siegfried battling a dragon to save Brunhilde isn't really a commentary on capitalist excess.

Neither was St. George slaying his dragon.

Nor was Susanoo slaying Orochi.

Power has taken on countless forms of corrupt governance and authority throughout human history, you're going to have to be a little specific!

This is where I move out of "I agree in spirit" to "Oh, boy, in practice, I wish you devoted at least a few more posts to clarifying some caveats."

And, as much as it annoys me, an ardent anti-capitalist, to note this?

... conflating *all* instances of greed as a narrative and metaphorical device with capitalism is, well, kind of lazily ahistorical?

All I'm saying is, I do believe we can afford to be contextually accurate.

This is a set! Do not separate them!

Meet Bartholomew and N. One's a mildly feral genetically engineered super soldier, the other is the poor rank and file trooper who's mind was digitized and put in a neural implant to keep her in line.

i think lots of people underestimate how badly these “AI” companies want people to be unable to afford computers. they view personal computing as a roadblock to their desire for complete end-to-end centralization. the fact that their tech is putting hardware out of reach is not just a happy accident

Random follow-up musings: I’m discovering after a month and a half into this unofficial “physical media” project, I’m much more than likely to watch a movie I own in my hands (whether from a buy or a rental from my public library) than streaming it. Even if I rent the stream for $5.99. (🧵1/4)
In 2026, you’ll likely see less “first-time watches” from me and notice way more rewatches/revisits of films. Something I’m working on this year is actually cracking open the latest physical media I bought this past year, taking time to read the booklets and comb through the special features.

Been thinking on this often. There's been such a long-standing push to turn software and games into streamed subscription services. Seems pretty reasonable to assume a lot of this isn't about scarcity at all, but a deliberate attempt to force that outcome whether we like it or not.

The silicon microprocessor computer chip, the backbone of modern life, is about to leave the consumer marketplace. We are not prepared for the end of personal computing.
I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

We can differ in opinion, until it encroaches on fascism; at that point, you’re wrong. They've found many ways to rig & cheat, & there is no limit to what they’ll attempt. Double-check voter registration often, & be prepared for new ID requirements. They'll make it difficult, to disenfranchise. ✌️☯️🌱

HUGE no on this. Make your phone calls.

They are trying to use the SAVE Act to do an end run around court rulings blocking them from accessing state voter rolls:
BREAKING: I read the new version of the “Save America Act” (S. 1383) so u don’t have to. Here’s my summary. Point 1 is new. It requires that all 50 states send their voter rolls to the DHS to run thru DHS’s faulty “SAVE” voter purge program. Points 6 & 7 are new too. Tell ur Senators #NoOnSAVE 1/

There’s no other word for it.
If our allies are worth their salt they’ll speak out against this and fight for our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We CANNOT pretend it’s not happening.

9. Adult care bans are becoming increasingly common. We have seen restrictions on adult care in Florida, for a short time in Missouri, in Puerto Rico, and Trump's nationwide edict covers trans care up to age 19, which includes adults.
