Why resilience won’t solve the mental health crisis among young people
A focus on resilience risks shifting responsibility for mental health onto those affected, rather than calling out factors contributing to poor mental health.

Himself & myself are off soon to Spain. SO a 🧵 of Scottish foremothers who fought fascism during the Civil War 1936-9. Cos fighting facism is important. This is Annie Murray Knight - a nurse. Her stories of Italian planes dropping sweet tins with bombs inside, which blew up kids, are harrowing. /1

the Christmas lights in the Scottish town of Newburgh are designed by its children-there’s a competition to design a new one each year. They’re made by the same co. that makes the lights for Blackpool, the Shard & Champs-Élysées:

School readiness is the fruit of good family and community support from conception. Including a strong focus on parental sensitivity and family relationships. I really hope a focus on school readiness is built on this broader understanding.
Government needs Sure Start 2.0 to hit school-readiness goals
If Labour wants to hit its target of 75 per cent of 5-year-olds being school-ready, it will need to engage heavily in early years support - just as we had before, says Anne Longfield
