I’ve thankfully stayed free of any One Battle After Another spoilers before seeing the movie tonight, but whatever it’s about, I’m glad it’s going to give me a well-needed break from the problems of this country and any issues at hand. Anyway, me and my big popcorn are going into the theater

'one battle after another' was excellent, as p.t. does, and never in the nearly 3 hours did it feel slow. casting was *chef's kiss.* and there's a tiny bit of eureka included, though the setting is perfectly chaotic & fluid. gooooo.

shared with hairdresser that my costume this year is e.t. in drag. they shared a story wherein their older sister used to play an e.t. VHS on repeat whenever she didn't want them in the room because they were terrified by it. mom bought an e.t. doll for exposure therapy, which failed miserably.

cooper hoffman & david jonsson were pretty excellent in "the long walk." go see it, but be prepared to be shell-shocked & to probably close your eyes 30% of the time. definitely moving & interesting as a stephen king thing. youtu.be/3Q5L9bwyrSA?...

saw a comedian last night and ended up in the very front row, like, 4 feet away from him. husband is stoic af, so comedian stops at one point and says "you need to lighten up. you ok?" it gets really awkward, with comedian offering therapy and egging him to talk. i'm aware husband is very anxious.

at a new constellations show but I swear every other couple here has a guy behind a lady basically dry humping from the back and it's super fucking awkward and uncomfortable because i'm distracted by what i'm literally now seeing as actual dogs getting all up in that.

when in public waiting spaces & that one person is staring at you like "addicted to your phone huh?" and you're like "no, just extremely antisocial & having a crap day take the hint" and they just keep staring and now it's just a battle of me staring more intently at my phone to spite them.

i'm doing this thing where i go to sleep and wake up at relatively reasonable hours and i'm not sure how to feel about it. this has not been the case in, oh, 40 years.

i'm getting "is that a sign on our neighbor's back roof? why wtf would they have a sign there? what does it say? i'm getting my binoculars" old.

tween intercepted to explain that it's just a solar panel and i'm losing it.

sobbing kinder who just wants to go home looks through a chainlink fence in vain for his dad's truck that won't arrive for 2 hours: "his truck is brown. it has a big american flag waving in the back. and another big black flag that waves. and it has a bullet on it but it doesn't shoot up."

“Sesame Street” and its sequel, “The Electric Company,” were, “with lapses, the most intelligent and important programs in television,” Renata Adler wrote, in 1972.

Self care tips: Go outside. Touch some grass. Swim in a river. Hug a tree. Realize the tree is actually a portal. Go through the portal into a land where you live in a mushroom and drink soup. Never be heard from again.
