Betalevel hosted a show of my music in 2016. It was one of my favorite nights ever and sparked some conversations that led to recording "Separation Songs," an album-length string octet, in LA a few years later. Loved that space.
A love letter to a weird space whose time is coming to an end, and to @zota.bsky.social’s enduringly wonderful aesthetic.

I remember the heartbreak that day we said goodbye to Dr. King. Feeling some of that heartbreak today as folks try to drag us all backward into the darkness. Love has got to win, y'all.

I kind of burned out on Bill Callahan about ~6-8 years ago. I just put on a series of his LPs and forgot how truly good that music can be. Coming back around.

My extremely conservative father went to New York City for the first time this year and he was in jaw-dropped disbelief about how nice it was.
I realise I'm just a freak, but living in a multicultural city is the best thing of all time, it's just the best possible human experience and i can not understand why anyone on earth would be like "weve got to destroy this"

The Lost Highway phone moment is one of the few scenes in a movie that genuinely gave me nightmares. I kept seeing that guy in the hallway of our old apartment the whole night afterward.
This scene will never not blow me away. From the (lack of) music, to the absolutely incredible and terrifying vocal effect…just perfection. G-d how I miss this man and his artistic vision

We get to the problem where every application of machine learning is now called AI, so we no longer have useful language to distinguish between Holly Herndon training her own custom models and a Prompt Artist™ crapping 50 songs a day out of Suono.

I'm listening to this for the first time ever in 2026 and it's real good.
I found an original of this at Lou’s in Encinitas in 2003 for $2 and it is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me
"Some 42 years after... Drag City returns Circle X’s Prehistory to the vinyl format on February 27, 2026. The Louisville-NYC art-punk-rockers insisted on carving a system beyond standard definition, their debut album existing bafflingly outside of time when... released in 1983."
