I get why techbros and their ilk like gen-AI: artists and writers to them are just an obstacle to be bypassed. But I'll never get an author/artist/musician who uses it. "I want to be a writer." No you don't. You fetishize ideas but hate the work. You don't respect the craft or its practitioners.

If you post or repost AI slop into my feed, I’ll unfollow you. I do not care if you think it’s a sick burn on one fascist psycho or another. There’s a decent chance I’ll tap the block button too. If you can’t grasp the connection between what AI is doing and fascist dehumanization, I can’t help you

Hello to all the new people migrating from X. I'm a BBC journalist and fact-checker.

Please flag any potentially misleading viral claims either on Bluesky or any other social media platform that needs fact-checking via DM, and I'll do the rest.

Thank you!

I left the ex-bird site (there's a Monty Python skit in there somewhere) a while back. Lost a lot of contacts in exchange for keeping a few shards of sanity. It seems now another exodus has begun. Maybe we'll all re-find each other here.

Tech companies paint a rosy picture about how AI can combat climate change.

But its threat to progress in the climate fight is real and immediate.

From supercharging disinformation *about* the crisis, to its massive use of electricity and water, it’s a recipe for climate chaos:

Well, this might be the most disgusting thing Will Sasso's ever done. Given the maturity level of some of the jokes on MadTV, that's saying something.

Some thoughts on A.I. in creative media:

"Creating" with A.I. isn't adding anything of value yourself. All of the "skill" or "talent" used exists solely in the computer (and let's be honest, more often than not, that's been stolen to begin with).

I'm gutted right now. The new SAG agreement all but guarantees that acting, as a profession, dies sometime in the next two years. For those of us who refuse to contribute to the learning models of our A.I. replacements, it's virtually (pun intended) over already.

Popping in to say that patients are testing positive for #COVID19 in clinic.

So many. Sore throat, headache, cough, fever.

Don’t be the cause of a newborn, toddler, senior, pregnant person, essential worker, HCW, others ending up sick.

#MaskUp, test, isolate, get your booster.

A well thought out and well informed piece on why SAG-AFTRA members should consider voting no on the proposed agreement.

Friday was a dark day in Canadian history.

It was the first time an elected government used the notwithstanding clause to limit the rights of LGBTQ youth in Canada.

Here’s what you need to know about it.

So there's a video going around that was put out by Pierre Poilievre's team about the effects of Bill C-18 and how Facebook is blocking news, and it's about the purest example of modern day propaganda I could hope to find.

I don't want think any of my friends could be abusers, it certainly would upset me to KNOW any of my friends are abusers, but more importantly, I don't want to stay friends with anyone who IS an abuser.

So Jordan Peterson is opening up a school. I really think he should consider merging with Andrew Tate's school and Trump should revive his university to merge as well. That way if you want learn how to be a completely shit human being, you can do it all in one place.

I wrote on a thing. The thing is releasing episodes next week. The thing's trailer's out now. It'd be neat if people went and listened to the thing. That would make me happy.

Today I deleted my twitter account. That platform was never perfect, but it's frightening to see how far it's fallen since Musk took over. Don't know if this is where things will settle as a replacement, given all the competitors, but it seems like a good bet.
