BREAKING: Autonomous anti-genocide activists bring the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to a grinding halt after blockading the McDonald’s float for a second year in a row.

“Those grinches who thinks they can disrupt the parade: it’s not going to happen,” Mayor Eric Adams said yesterday.

Training what Gramsci called "permanent persuaders" — party activists who constantly are organizing their neighbors/coworkers/friends — is a critical political task. Volunteers knocking on strangers' doors and having 30 second convos at election time isn't enough. www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i...
Democrats’ much-touted ‘ground game’ was a disaster. Here’s how to fix it
Cable ads and bussed-in volunteers don’t cut it any more. If the party wants to win, it must engage voters in a collective push for change

What Makes a DSA Chapter Democratic? - The Call
A democratic DSA needs a culture where everyone believes they can help build the organization even if individual votes don’t go their way.

I think one thing as socialists we need to be clearer about in this moment is that liberalism even progressive liberalism is not socialism. Becoming a socialist REQUIRES a break with the liberal worldview and a transformation of the way you see and understand the world.

There's a strange idea among moderates that radicals take far left positions for the vibes, or to posture, or just because they're radical position. We take these stances because we want a livable planet, we want people to have good lives, and because in many cases they're winning positions.

One of my favorite things is when it is really obvious that the capitalists want us to like something. Right now it’s wicked, it was Barbie, Taylor Swift falls into this. The act of cultural creation by the ruling class is so blatant and transparent now.

Sen. Bernie Sanders goes scorched earth, saying "The Democrats ran a campaign protecting the status quo and tinkering around the edges" and that its leadership "are much too wedded to the billionaires and corporate interests that fund their campaigns."

Doesn’t say “socialist” once. No hint of doing what’s right because it’s right. Opportunism is ugly.
There have been a lot of times where I feel like we need to have honest discussions on the left about what has worked and what hasn’t, share observations without judgement, but it feels like there isn’t much space for it. I think it’s holding us back.

I wonder how and where we can accomplish that.

Conflict is necessary to political development. “Infighting” or “factionalism” is not actually a problem. The problem arises when the aim of the conflict is to win the org rather than persuade or seek synthesis. Everyone has to realize that the org is not a prize to be won.

Meeting people where they are at and treating them with respect is so much more inspiring than the liberal diagnosis that people are irredeemably bad, can’t be moved, and that they should suffer for it.
Why did so many working class New Yorkers vote for Donald Trump last week — and even more not vote at all?

I went to Hillside Ave in Queens and Fordham Rd in the Bronx to find out. www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7Fc...
