Why are people upset about an adaptation successfully conveyed the same theme of the book. If the reviewers said the opposite then maybe I'd see people lose their minds.
I'm losing my mind over how many reviewers are like "GDT's Frankenstein makes you wonder who the real monster is." THAT'S THE STORY! That's the story Shelley wrote!

And much like reddit you think you're being informed. Until you see a post from a subject you actually know and start questioning everything you took at face value in the first place.
not the most important part of this story but can we talk about how they made a robot that talks like reddit? the entire model of "intelligence" and human interaction this approximates is "forum douche." they built a thing that simulates posting online

Coworker the other day said Pierce Brosnan was the "Mama Mia guy"
I think everybody has a “Wallace Shawn from Young Sheldon” — my first one would probably be “Vincent Price, the guy who did the voice of Ratigan in The Great Mouse Detective”

Frankenstein is generating so many polarizing ratings on letterboxd is crazy. Either wanting it to be more like the book or they're upset it isn't like the book. Either way, it was extremely my shit. 5 stars.

I'd at least respect AI a bit if Sam Altman himself had to do elaborate art heist at the Louvre to steal art for his machine instead of just clicking a button.

My big holes were Back to the Future and Star Wars. Both were fixed in recent years and my takeaway with both series was "I guess I had to be kid huh?"
Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

Second movie of October was I Saw the TV Glow. I loved it, but I can see why some people aren't in tune with it. A bit of escapism can help get you through life, but eventually you do need to escape.

For all these shill articles you'd think I would be able to find literally any clip of this creature acting. But I can't.

the old ladies at work are already watching hallmark christmas stuff. Hallmark needs to step up for some halloween movies. A woman goes back to her small town in october and falls in love with a pumpkin spice farmer or something.

First horror movie of the month was Clown in a Cornfield. Which is a series of books inspired by old slashers movies then made into a slasher movie itself. A snake eating its tail scenario but delivers on the titular clown in a cornfield alright.

We invented a slop machine and now we're surprised it is making slop! These guys control the world btw.
Research: low productivity gains from AI may stem from employees using AI to produce "workslop", or low-effort, passable work that creates more work for others (Harvard Business Review)

I am still surprised on how Americans are pretty clueless on the US/Canada relationship completely disintegrating after the president threatened multiple times to invade and annexe us.

I do have to laugh when my parents say everything is more dangerous today. Only for them to follow up the most harrowing stories from their youths.
Wild seeing people talk about Britain as a violent and lawless place when I grew up in the Valleys in the 80s, somewhere that could generously be described as "a bit rough at times", and because my memory hasn't completely shorted out yet I can say with certainty everything is way better now.
