The problem with others' answers is the "comic book movie" is a recent and specific thing centered around making existing fans feel seen so that they will evangelize your niche IP to normal people. RoboCop and Ghostbusters were not CBMs. Hell, Blade wasn't and it's based on Marvel comics.
