Reading a bit more about Ashworth's depature this morning and it turns out it was:

- Staveley not Howe that was the reason for his depature at #NUFC

- Ashworth recommended Howe for the Man Utd job

For something that a lot of fans think was "Howe's fault" well, that's some new info

Ashworth was a process, middle of the wheel type guy. Not one for whom recruitment was a specialism.

If it’s as reported he led Man Utd’s window & decided to keep ETH, then little wonder why he and Eddie did not see eye to eye. #nufc

Hard to think of a more humiliating and messy spell at a football club than Dan Ashworth and #MUFC. From the public courtship, his reported email confirming he’s been tapped up, gardening leave then five iffy months in post before being sacked.

£10m compensation- waited longer for him to take up the job than he was in the job - this is why Ratcliffe has to put his hands in the pockets of those who go to the match - inept. Hilarious.

Still thinking about Isak rounding the keeper yesterday and conspiring to not score.

Maybe he just needs to play against Van Dijk every week, seems to always have a field day against him.

Tough time for Gregg Wallace gets worse, he’s missed out on quite the ‘Inside The Factory’ episode here.

Dan Ashworth might be the biggest fraud in football.

This is a season in which Man City have been shockingly fallible; Man Utd have continued to be poor, and Spurs have taken being "Spursy" to whole new levels.

It's represented a massive opportunity for Newcastle United. From boardroom to dressing room, they've absolutely fucked it into the bin #nufc

Lots of problems that need solutions.

Some of these are infuriating as well because they’re completely and solely within our control.

Top to bottom issues at #NUFC

Lack of a CEO
Lack of sponsorships and commercial deals
Lack of development on stadium
Not ruthless in the transfer market
Zero loan signings from Saudi explored
Weak against PL rule changes, unlike City

Same again here. Wage bill double Brentford for those who made that case last week, two wins in 11, same issues in intensity and openness at the back. Away from home it is getting worse, not better, for #NUFC.
There’s often a lot of talk about expectation at #NUFC and how this team isn’t good enough for top four/six. But it is also much better than what has been seen too often this season; they look like midtable fodder. Surely with over £400m spent, they are now underachieving.

Questions to answer.

People we dole out the excuse that Brentford have great home form this season.

For the record their home games before today have been against Leicester, Bournemouth, Ipswich, Wolves, West Ham, Southampton, and Palace.

Not exactly a list of footballing luminaries.

I have no idea why we insist on trying to play possession football when haven’t got a clue how to break down a defence, but we’re really good at attacking space. We don’t have the players to play the way that Howe seemingly insists upon. #NUFC

To say I’m absolutely fuming at Howe dropping Tonali for today’s game is an understatement. Can’t imagine how the lad himself must feel, absolutely criminal #NUFC

Jack Stephens got sent off last night for Violent Conduct by having a little teeny pull on a precious Chelsea players hair. VAR looked at it and ref gave it a red card.

Whereas Van Dijk dangerously clocked Gordon in the jaw with clear intent & VAR did nothing.

Utter shambles. Corrupt. #nufc

Isak has played against VVD 4 times. Scored in three of those games and got him sent off in the other one. Good effort #NUFC

Just seen the footage back and I’m convinced that should be a red card for Van Dijk for the challenge on Gordon. Very deliberate and dangerous motion

Amazed the referee didn’t see a replay.

Tonali at 6, Bruno at 8. Quality.

No idea why it has taken this long for Howe to try it. But I don’t care. Just please let it be our future.
