As great powers abandon rules and values for their own interests, middle powers like Canada have a choice: compete with each other for favour or act together with impact.

And round and round we go. Pointing out the bleedin’ obvious doesn’t do anything to rectify the problem.

The man is a danger to the entire Western world. For fuck’s sake America, do something before it’s too late!!
No one can be watching this Davos speech and reach any conclusion but that the President of the United States is mentally disturbed and that something is deeply wrong with him. This is both embarrassing and extremely dangerous.

Truly scary stuff. Expected media coverage? Zero.
This week the government quietly published a 'Global biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and national security assessment': www.gov.uk/government/p...

Meant to be out last year, but rumoured to be blocked by Number 10: www.theguardian.com/environment/...

The judgements are stomach-churning

This is a truly horrifying account of increasingly likely collapse of essential natural systems which would bring mass food shortages, price rises & global disorder. Commissioned from UK intelligence chiefs but scandalously suppressed by Govt, & sneaked out now while attention is elsewhere 👇

NEW: NEW: Standards commissioner finds Nigel Farage committed seventeen breaches of MPs code of conduct.

He failed to declare £333,000 in outside interests (more than 3x MPs annual salary)…

UK governments are like - Hey there's this company Palantir which is owned by an American political extremist who wants to destroy democracy, Let's give our NHS data to him. Oh look, his friends in the White House are trying to destroy NATO. Well, we'd better give him our military data as well.

To put things into context, imagine if Farage was PM at this moment.
Which is exactly why Farage is so dangerous.

Robert Jenrick becomes the latest Tory Cabinet minister to stand up at a Reform event and say the country is in an appalling state. You have no idea of the self-control required not to yell: "YOU WERE IN FKING GOVERNMENT!"

Neil Coyle MP has written a brutal takedown letter to Nigel Farage for his breach of parliamentary protocol, because Farage visited Coyle's London constituency without notifying him. 10/10 no notes.

The u-turn on mandatory digital ID was incredibly predictable.

I v much doubt scrapping jury trials will survive either.

Less positively prob not votes at 16 either.

If the far right oppose something, Starmer wont do it. Farage is already the Prime Minister rly #r4today

Good morning.

A regular reminder: a tiny few hoard staggering wealth and own much of the media, while millions struggle to survive.

That’s not an accident. It’s a choice made by those in power.

Tax wealth. Fund public services. Build an economy for everyone - not the 1%.

I’d love to read this but I ain’t paying £280 a year for access to the FT just to read the odd article of interest.

I don’t object to paywalls at all, just people who post stuff that’s behind one that most people can’t access.

It’s pointless.
Superb and absolutely damning long read on HS2.

We cannot allow Nigel Farage & others to rewrite history. If UK News Shows won’t call this absolute boll**** out let’s do it ourselves
If UK news shows are going to give Nigel Farage a platform to spout this absolute boll**** about Brexit & the vaccine rollout (unchallenged) I’ll happily come back every week to correct it.

We cannot allow him & others to rewrite history.

When are UK News Shows going to start calling out Nigel Farage and his completely rubbished claims?

Nadim Zahawi arrived in the UK from Iraq as a child refugee. His family claimed asylum once they were here. Today he has joined Reform who will stop all in country asylum applications. Under his new party, his own family fleeing persecution would be immediately deported.

Again, the people who seem to be most damaged by social media aren't the kids - who are quite good at navigating it - but the middle-aged, who get caught up in extremism, fooled by misinformation, trapped by scammers, and addicted to porn.

Stop focussing on the kids. Start with the rest of us.

I love the idea that governments have to stay on Twitter because that's where "their audience" is.

Like if you only announced your cabinet reshuffles on Bluesky Harry bloody Cole wouldn't make an account to read about it.
