Good news! Last night a court ordered the federal government to return the search-and-rescue helicopter to Newport while the lawsuit is underway.
This is a big win for public safety in our coastal communities – and a reminder that the government must follow the law.

OPB learned of the Medicaid workgroup last week and asked to attend its first meeting. The governor’s office said the meetings are closed to the media and public, citing an exemption in state open meetings law that allows some advisory groups to meet privately. The governor declined to explain why.
