Apparently, it’s world copywriter’s day, so here’s a post I wrote about copywriting (and why people are better than AI)

www.inhouseconsultingltd.com/single-post/...
Why use a human to write content in the age of AI?
Good content should build connections with your customers. It should sound like you and be an authentic representation of you. That way, as your interactions move from online to the real world, the ex...

Another misstep from this stumbling government. All eyes on the AI consultation to see whether they stagger all the way off track, or if they do something in the best interests of the UK’s creative community.
Amidst all the awful news this week, you may have missed that the party of workers, has become the party of the Broligarchs

UK govt pushed back against an amendment that would protect the copyrights of musicians and creatives against AI sloplords www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Data bill opposed by Sir Elton John and Dua Lipa finally passes
Leading artists said the bill needed to be changed to protect them from having their work copied by AI.

Sigh…..😞

Another day, another wildly misleading Daily Mail headline.

I mean, it certainly would be headline worthy if police had turned up and accused her of committing a crime by writing innocent FB posts.

But that's not what happened…

I found out that you can avoid Google’s AI overview by adding swearwords to your search query. I also found out that you can completely change your query if you put the wrong swearwords in the wrong place. Apparently, asking "where's the nearest fucking bank?" doesn't tell you anything about banks.

The Wellderness needs your help!

As you might know, this year we stopped planting trees and started growing them instead.

If you came to January's Campfire Community Social, you may have started growing a few trees of your own.

I got my cats’ names muddled this afternoon.

Willow and Lennie are now called Willie and Lennow!

This is Willie.

If you can't join them, shoot them (with your camera). I haven't done a parkrun for months, because my body decided it doesn't like running anymore. So, on Saturday my body and brain agreed that we should take my camera down to Worthing parkrun to take some photos. It’s not quite the same!

Speaking as someone who has been involved since the beginning, Mick isn’t the only one whose life has been transformed by the Wellderness. The combination of nature, community and learning has had a hugely positive impact for me and I couldn’t imagine life without it 💚
Healing through nature: how the Wellderness transformed one man’s life

Nature is a source of solace and beauty and for one man in West Sussex, it became a pathway to self-discovery, healing, and confidence | Mick Channon (Nov 2024)

Balloon and lantern releases create litter and #plasticpollution in landscapes and seas that can harm the environment, wildlife and livestock. Celebrate special occasions and loved ones by planting trees, wildflowers, or bee and butterfly gardens instead!

Every Thursday, I join up with the Poi Passion Circus and Fire Arts crew to play, flow and learn.

Sometimes, I take photos too.

Last night was one of those photo times, as we turned off the big lights and busted out the LED hoops.

I’m very happy with these shots!

Ancient woodland now covers just 2.5% of the UK. It’s essential that we resist anything that risks the tiny amount that we still have.

Thanks @bylinesnetwork.bsky.social for raising this. The question is, what can be done to safeguard the nature around this development?

For me, so much of writing is about making connections. If AI is doing the research then I’m going to miss those connections and the piece will lose depth and meaning. Plus, as George points out, I’ll lose an opportunity to learn something new. And what’s all this about if not to keep learning?
1. Here's why I'll never use AI to assist my research or writing:
A. I don't want to know exactly what I'm looking for.
I mean that when I start researching a topic, I want to remain open to its contradictions and paradoxes, and to the unexpected paths that might lead off it. 🧵
