DHS now says it's aiming for 100 million deportations. In an amazing coincidence, there are 104 million Black and Hispanic people living in the U.S. right now.

The Binghamton saga is interesting. The area has many small airport: Ithaca, Elmira, Binghamton. Do we meed al 3? Likely not, IFF we had a decent mass transit serving at least 2 areas (say Elmira-Binghamton). That would bring 4 uni campuses, Lockheed, BAE, Corning under 1 airport.

⚡️Explosions are rocking Kyiv right now.

An air raid alert is in effect across the capital as blasts are heard.

I’d love for journos (do we still have journos in the US?) to have the pelotas to open with a ‘J6 Terrorist tries crash a childcare’ instead of giving these viruses space

So that's Washington, Michigan, Indiana, and Colorado at least with zombie coal plants forced to stay open
Trump administration orders Colorado coal plant to stay open for resiliency, ignores that the clunker is already broken down + requires millions of consumer money to fix

If I were a Somali American, I’d go buy myself tons of protective gear pronto.
It is incredibly bleak to watch these people basically try to whip up a pogrom
is it not a common experience for sites to do this when they receive a huge influx in traffic driven by weird men deciding to hunt daycares?

Trump is guilty.
Jack Smith was confident he could get convictions based on the quality and volume of evidence and the reliability of his witnesses who were all Trump supporters:
“Our case was built on, frankly, Republicans who put their allegiance to the country before the party. ”

Or South Africa.

Enough with the Commonwealth dumping their trash on us.

Btw one of Epstein’s victims alleged that Trump raped her.

Just in case things get lost.
Border czar Tom Homan didn't receive a normal background check for his role while his bribery probe was still ongoing:

Justice officials felt sure Homan would not be able to obtain a security clearance based on the evidence gathered. It remains unclear how Homan was eventually granted clearance.

President-elect Trump initially balked at submitting names of likely nominees to the FBI for background checks, a basic step intended to flag possible financial conflicts or ethical problems.

My wish for 2026 is that Europeans will be as critical and vigilant about authoritarianism and racism in their own country as they are about them in the U.S. and that Americans will be as critical and vigilant about authoritarianism and racism in the U.S. as Europeans are.

As a geographer, I am always amused…
My hot take is that separating out Europe and Asia makes sense because the steppe (not the Urals per se) was an effective barrier to migration. Not a total barrier by any means (see the huns, avars, magyars, etc etc etc), but it was not the easiest way in
My position has been quite consistent over time. The Urals are little more than a speed bump
