Well, if you're looking for a distraction from politics, come on over to the weird and wonderful world of medical history! If you ever wondered what would happen if you needed a leg amputated in 1832, or if you had a toothache in 1765 - look no further. Bloodlettings! Bodysnatchers! I got it all.

Marjorie, I know the truth confuses you and facts ain’t your strong suit—so let me break it down real slow:

George Floyd didn’t die from drugs. He died because Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for 9 minutes. That’s called murder.

Just me over here feeling intense betrayal realizing the women in the Bible I was taught to look up to were basically admirable for being assaulted by men as a sacrifice for their faith.

I'm not even Christian anymore, haven't been for years. This shouldn't hurt so much. (1/2)

“The political environment in Russia made it hard to do science because everything was unpredictable. […] That type of uncertainty is incompatible with science, which requires the ability to plan what type of experiments and research you will do a year into the future.”
Beautiful piece of science writing from an immigrant scientist who moved to the US to escape persecution as a dissident in Russia, only to end up in ICE detention. Gorgeous images too!

Because of you, we raised over $55,000 in support of public libraries during National Library Week 💓 (At least one of our team members cried seeing that number. Okay, fine, it was me.)

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who donated, shared, or showed support for their library in other ways.

You need a hobby.

For actual medical & mental health reasons.

Salugenology explores why humans need past times and how modern life is set up for terrible health and depression. BUT author Julia Hotz tells us exactly what to do about it. I love this one.
