I really never know how to talk about what music I listen to. It's not even that I'm embarrassed, my mind just kinda goes blank when people ask me the question. No idea why this happens but it's been this way for 15+ year. Honestly it's a topic I hate haha

Riddler, changing tactics: "What sleeps satisfied now but wakes hungry in Q3?"
Batman: ...NVDA?
Riddler: *writing furiously* And when do I sell?
Batman: You're just asking me to predict the stock market
Riddler: Oh so NOW you won't solve riddles

One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!

Underdiscussed issue is how the ability to self modify will create exceptionally dangerous and weird evolutionary environments as soon as sufficiently capable AI agents get anything resembling a reproduction/preservation instinct.

Wrong, first and foremost this is due to moron voters in the midwest and south. Do not let common people off the hook for their evil and stupidity. They are awful and deserve scorn.

when thinking of abstract disciplines I feel like I "get" physics and computer science and philosophy, even if I am bad at them I understand how to approach them, how and why they are done. I don't "get" math (as, like, a discipline with research questions and such) and never have

Thermostatic public opinion is real, but the idea that it manifests as an equal and opposite reaction every time is obviously reductive and nonsensical. If that were the case, we wouldn't have stable policies at all.
I'm glad this person (and I hope more like him) now realize that you have to anticipate future public opinion when planning political strategy. Not just mindlessly follow current issue polls.

But I hope they remember that this is not only true when you find a poll result you disagree with.

Manipulating photos like this is part of it. If people get mad, that's just sort of the simulacra they're playing. People mad, shares, retweets, discourse, it's all points. They don't care about the people involved. They see everything as being part of the game

Woke victory
Biggest cultural events of the past year in film (Sinners), TV (Heated Rivalry) and streaming (Kpop Demon Hunters) were actually...all very good?

2025 was shitty year for humanity but a pretty decent year in pop culture.

People still clinging to the belief that Kamala Harris taking a harder line would have guaranteed her victory in 2024 are, I’m sorry, stupid.

Nolan is wrong. The state should NOT cut off any Metro funding.

Instead, they should reorganize the Metro board (which the state legislature has control over) to better reflect transit riders
L.A. Metro, the main transit operator for Los Angeles, just voted to oppose SB 79, a law legalizing the construction of housing near stations. You can't make this stuff up. Legislators should remember this the next time they come to Sacramento begging for more money.

“Metro staff report said SB 79 could harm the transit agency’s expansion by galvanizing opponents against new light rail stations & dedicated bus lanes,” because law requires higher densities there.

But if a transit station area isn’t planned for higher densities… the station shouldn’t be built.
