It's so stupid that every online resource advises you to be a fucking detective when writing a cover letter to figure out who's the hiring manager. That's like old people shit. It's a personal preference, like preferring phone calls over text.

It's been fully memory-holed, but Marco Rubio was elected to the Senate as a Tea Party candidate. He'll back whichever tendency within the Republican Party that seems ascendant and likely to move him ahead. Right now, that's fascism.
A stunning assault on the First Amendment

Before Rubio's confirmation, senators and pundits acted as though he was a "sane," "rational," "normal," "moderate" nominee. He's constantly showing himself to be a right-wing extremist.

Nayib Bukele and Marco Rubio are beloved by the opposition in Venezuela. I don't know what to say. No one gives a shit about us? Not even ourselves.

Still not fully sold on The Wheel of Time but Georgia O'Keeffe is so deeply sexy and fun in this role!!!

Just watched Lost Highway and I'm reading Letterboxd reviews that are like 'Bill Pullman is so hot' and sexuality is so funny because every time Patricia Arquette was onscreen my brain short circuited like a toy monkey playing the cymbals.

Feels crazy to say that I'm making my Vulture debut, but I am! I wrote about what has happened with O Cinema and Miami Beach these past weeks from a local angle, providing plenty of context for Miami's issues with censorship and a glimpse into what was an immensely heated city commissioner meeting.
The Fight to Censor a Miami Movie Theater Isn’t the First and Won’t Be the Last

I read a tweet from a music critic that was like 'Japanese Breakfast's new record is not great' and like, I'm sorry, but this is fantastic. I'm taking my little wins wherever I can this year.

I started watching The Wheel of Time. I liked it. It's okay. Rosamund Pike is steely. I'm annoyed it looks cheap but look forward to getting into the groove of it.

I need someone smart to explain to me why fantasy TV looks so bad nowadays. I find The Witcher impossible to watch for this reason.

Since 2020 I’ve increasingly felt like we’re in a digital dark ages, where illiteracy is skyrocketing, people believe in magic, disease is rampant, oligarchs rule, and it’s all facilitated by ultra modern technology that has evolved to reinforce it

Big moments in pop culture are a lot more important to the average person than political discourse. When I saw what happened in Depp v Heard in 2022, with all those women in particular rejecting MeToo in favor of cultural conservatism, I knew we were seeing a watershed reactionary right wing shift

I guess people are looking at Trump's presidency with nostalgia, a sense of 'we made it out the first time. How bad can it get?' What's killing me is that they simply can't take a chance on a woman. The concept of a woman in power is too emasculating for our neighbors, family, friends.

This past weekend, I went to Tiny Desk at NPR. I watched Ivy Queen perform, felt like I was 10 years old again, and wrote about it. Crazy moment!
