These are the bizarre outcomes when you have an organization pretending it is possible to represent national identity without it being political.
It is absolutely crushing to know that, after this genocide-in-the-making is all over (however it ends), many — perhaps most — of the people cheering it on today will go to their graves decades later still not recognizing it for what it was.

"AGI" is not a threshold we are going to cross. It's a crude idea based on speculation from long before anything it described was remotely in sight. Asking if we're going to build it is like asking if we're going to build warp engines or tricorders.

Not clear to me what inherent relevance so-called "sanity" has. What jumps out to me, on a brief read of the article, is that while he's certainly the most powerful person openly espousing these ideas, none of this is new. The ingredients of this worldview are all endemic to American culture.

I totally get why this is getting replies along the lines of "we don't forgive you, go fuck yourself", but this is 100% a behavior we want to incentivize. If quitting ICE means you're now an outcast from the entire political spectrum... that'll make quitting very unappealing.

So, like, I agree with most of this clip, but also most of these things are absolutely stuff I may in some cases be willing to delegate to another human being. The problem isn't that these must be done personally, but because AI is not currently at a point where it deserves high trust.
