I think too much, but sometimes it comes in handy.

"Any pronouns" in my case means "surprise me".

I don't click Substack links.

These are the bizarre outcomes when you have an organization pretending it is possible to represent national identity without it being political.
Hard to describe the depth of outrage and feeling this story has generated across in Ukraine - remarkable and sad.

It is absolutely crushing to know that, after this genocide-in-the-making is all over (however it ends), many — perhaps most — of the people cheering it on today will go to their graves decades later still not recognizing it for what it was.

"AGI" is not a threshold we are going to cross. It's a crude idea based on speculation from long before anything it described was remotely in sight. Asking if we're going to build it is like asking if we're going to build warp engines or tricorders.

I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.

I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

My personal line on LLM use has been that I will not give these companies money as long as they're guzzling fossil-fueled electricity and building an economic bubble.

Now that ChatGPT has ads, I guess that means I won't be using it at all anymore! Not in a personal capacity, at least.

That post about the "40 jobs most at risk by AI" is disinformation. Whether lying or sloppy, I advise blocking that guy.

"It is tempting to conclude that occupations that have high AI action applicability score will be automated and thus experience job or wage loss [...]. This would be a mistake"

I'll be honest, I wasn't with her until she called out the chairman for hypocrisy. At face value, that line of questioning was a really weak attempt at a gotcha which made no strong points.
McIVER: Do you consider yourself a religious man?

LYONS: Yes mam

McIVER: How do you think judgment day will work for you with so much blood on your hands?

LYONS: I'm not going to entertain that question

McIVER: Do you think you're going to hell, Mr Lyons?

age verification is functionally a huge security hazard for _all_ internet users but the government will call you a danger to children if you point this out
“In October, one of Discord’s former third-party vendors suffered a data breach that exposed users’ age verification data, including images of government IDs.”
Discord will require a face scan or ID for full access next month

Not clear to me what inherent relevance so-called "sanity" has. What jumps out to me, on a brief read of the article, is that while he's certainly the most powerful person openly espousing these ideas, none of this is new. The ingredients of this worldview are all endemic to American culture.
After a certain point the sanity of Palantir's leadership does matter to the national security of the UK and other European states buying its software

how do you write this story without noting there was a campaign literally called SUBSTACKERS AGAINST NAZIS in…2023

I totally get why this is getting replies along the lines of "we don't forgive you, go fuck yourself", but this is 100% a behavior we want to incentivize. If quitting ICE means you're now an outcast from the entire political spectrum... that'll make quitting very unappealing.

Just saw someone imply not only that morality is universal like mathematics, but that believing it to be otherwise means you lack a basic understanding of what morality even is.

Kindly fuck off. If you believe that, fine, but there are other meta-ethical positions and it isn't a settled field.

So, like, I agree with most of this clip, but also most of these things are absolutely stuff I may in some cases be willing to delegate to another human being. The problem isn't that these must be done personally, but because AI is not currently at a point where it deserves high trust.
While some are convinced that Moltbook represents an uncontrolled experiment in AI agents talking to each other, a researcher has found an exposure that lets anyone take control of any AI agent on the site. @jasonkoebler.bsky.social on why anyone would even use this.
