I was taught that politics is disagreeing with how to address a problem, not disagreeing on whether the people suffering from the problem should be villainized.

We can negotiate on a solution to a problem. There is no middle ground on whether we should be villainizing the victims of a problem.

No woman I know in academia would be surprised by this, but its good to see it documented like this, I guess.
Experimental evidence that students are more likely to contest grades when they are delivered by an evaluator with a female-sounding name.

"These findings suggest that women in evaluative positions face disproportionate resistance when delivering negative assessments."

Funnily when they wanted to keep POC out of tech their reasoning was that we didn’t meet the standards
Can't wait for the loosened up, non-perfect, but quickly shipped AI-enhanced updates to hit my banking and insurance services next year.

Im sure there will be no issues there at all.

here's a list of readings on the myth of job replacement by AI. i might turn this into a blog post as a sort of lesson plan for anyone who wants to use it, but it's just a reminder that every time we see "self-driving" cars or delivery robots, invisibilized workers are always behind the scenes.

I don't make many predictions, but I think here is a slow pitch directly over the plate...

As more companies turn to using AI generated code, criminal hackers and digital incident responders will be overwhelmed with work. #infosecmemes #dfirmemes

Today is a good day to pick up Micah's book. If you don't already have these skills, let me tell you they are going to be very useful in the near future.
Here's a good book on the skills I think will be useful to journalists and citizen-researchers of the future, written by my colleague @micahflee.com

Wow, tell me you don't understand privacy without telling me you don't understand privacy, we will let Ms. Ho go first....

For round two, we will see if she can connect this to a comment that sounds like, "won't someone think of the children?"
Classic reply.

We spoke to Flock safety, the manufacturer of these cameras, about privacy concerns.

"How is that being addressed?" ABC7 News reporter Luz Pena asked.

"If you're not involved in a crime, you shouldn't be concerned about privacy," said Lily Ho, Public Affairs for Flock Safety.

I think an AI company should name their AI "Fetch" and then lean into the meme "That is soooo Fetch" without every actually checking for what the next line in the movie is.
