Forget Sam Harris! We're THE go-to Making Sense pod.
Earnest & silly & heartfelt & collaborative. You've heard of the "fight-flight" response? We're a "tend and befriend" response to the election and to the burning up of the planet... Fun! for Everyone!
Pinned
I'm more proud of this than almost any other audio I've ever made!

Weirdly, although the election was only a few months ago, it already seems a simpler and more innocent time.

Hello it’s me Sam Altman I have a zillion dollar idea it’s a chat bot that tells teenagers to kill themselves and you can generate csam with it and it poisons the air and water and it’s wrong most of the time and we’re going to put it in your refrigerator and stuff 👍 I need more money for this btw

"Seed Corn Must Not Be Ground" final lithograph of Käthe Kollwitz, 1942. The death of her son in battle in 1914 profoundly affected the artist, who expressed her grief by creating many prints on the theme of mothers protecting their children from the horrors of war #WomensArt

Obviously we now have to pronounce this ultra-fabulous way from NOW ON!
Your Cherokee words for today.
The top word is English followed by how it is written in the Cherokee language followed by how it is spelled in English then how to pronounce it phonetically.

Today is my birthday, and I'm not above leveraging that for book sales. As a gift to me, if you're interested in indie music 2000-2020 (and its gradual metamorphosis into pop), pre-order SUCH GREAT HEIGHTS: The Complete Cultural History of the Indie Rock Explosion and recirculate this post.

My oldest has been taking drum lessons, so yesterday I finally got him a kit. He knocked about on it at first, but then I told him to do quarter notes, and I played some power chords, and we locked in. “Dad, we just wrote a song! We should release it!” he said. Buddy, you just invented punk rock.

My favorite summer flower is Liatris 💕 Have you ever walked through a field of these flowers? It's a funny sensation! They are heavier than expected, especially covered in morning dew. The big blooms thump softly against your legs as you walk through them.
