Greetings, new followers who aren't bots!

Brief synopsis:

I'm a nerdy event planner with fantasies of writing or arting full time if I were to ever win the lotto. I'm allergic to the sun (THE SUN!!!) and am a delicate alpine flower who would REALLY love to live above the 50th parallel...

(Because I was not a) indoors in a public place, or b) outside, where the SUN and pollen live) I'm your average Pasty White Girl with hair that's been going all Rogue From X-Men for awhile. Volume depends upon the humidity level... I'm wearing a cool black tshirt with a Ouija board pattern on it in this photo, but I have a vast (VAST) collection of nerdy tshirts, many of which involve dinosaurs, Star Wars, or Star Trek.

Of all the reasons for itchiness, I think that neuralgic itchiness is the worst. It's just unfair! I didn't do anything to cause it - didn't eat anything weird, didn't come into contact with any potential irritants - but it makes me want to claw my skin off.

Arghhhh.

As for the transitional evening from one year to the next, I'd say we cleaned up rather nicely! He got to wear his tails, and I got to wear the dress that I wore to the Hugos, back in August, swapping out a lightweight black Bolero jacket with a seasonal red velvet one.

There is a small cluster of red embroidered flowers at the hemline that matches the red velvet of my jacket. Since the sleeves of the bolero are only just to my elbows, I am wearing black Opera gloves.

We spent New Years Eve at the formal wedding of some good friends, and the B&B that we are staying at has an incredible early 20th century bathtub that I am taking full advantage of, this morning. Oh, how I wish I had one of these at home!
Looking down on a very large and very old built-in bathtub with enamel coating. On the right side, behind the hanging white shower curtain, can be seen the mechanism for filling it. There is a veritable Mini hydrant, flanked by hot and cold water spigots, each with enameled handles. The water pours forcefully out of a brass puck shaped spout A view of the antique bathtub faucet mechanism. In the center is what looks like a miniature metal fire hydrant with a white enameled finial on top. This spins to slide into place to stop the water from draining out of the tub. The hot and cold taps flank it like the nacelles of a federation Starship. The handles are also enameled in white. The floor is done with hexagonal white tiles, with a mosaic border along the right side. View from inside the very full bathtub. The tops of the faucet mechanism can be seen sticking up past the foot of the tub, in front of a white shower curtain. The bronze Puck shaped bigot is directly above a drain hole of equal size in the foot of the tub. For scale, when I sit in the tub and stretch my legs out completely, there is a good three or four centimeters of water above the tops of my size six and a half feet. The enamel at the base of the tub has fractured at some point over the last century into a pattern of cracks that almost looks like a set of wings.
