After reflecting on the @rascal.news article about Yazeba's for a while I think the problem is an industry so small that everyone is one degree of separation from one another can't support real press. It's always going to intermingle normal industry disputes with personal issues.

It's a question of where does the game lie? Is it in the book? In the reader's head? In the actual act of playing? In the taped actual play? The answer to each of these questions are yes even though the game is fundamentally different at each state.

In theatre we often have a separation between the playwright, the director, and the actor. I think that is an apt model to explain this.
If we accept that people do play both the text of the game as they read it and the promise of a game as they perceive it, and often prioritize that promise over the text, then what's to be done in terms of design?
