so is it a common experience that the same dudes who were super into crypto like 7 years ago are the same dudes that are super into ai hype now?

is it just the same group of guys getting scammed over and over while they lecture us normies about how we are missing out because we are stupid?

100%.

"Lol sportsball" sneering is a socially acceptable thing in nerd circles but it is also extremely toxic too cool for school self-vicitimization.
a perfidious thing 90s media did was associate the stereotype of the bully with sports via The Jock. sports are cool, you get to hang out with your friends, have fun, get good brain chemicals, and it took me forever to realise that because media told me it was for bad people.

I’m rooting against the evil team that cheats but also wraps itself in a patriotic facade. Which, if that’s not a metaphor for the country’s Whole Deal right now, I’m not sure what is.

(In this metaphor, the Seahawks lose because they refuse to tackle as hard as New England to preserve decorum.)

I truly do not understand how so many people are turning into colossal dumbasses.

I always wondered when I’d stop listening to tech podcasts. I like computers. But the topic of conversation has basically entirely drifted into the hosts’ interactions with their LLM’s.

It is just so, unfathomably boring.

I get to review journal articles sometimes. Can confirm, it’s getting pretty sloppy.

It astonishes me that people ask these things scientific questions at all. You should see what the citations look like in a paper generated by a plagiarism robot. Utterly worthless.
Welcome, piles of slop filling up the journals with clouds of useless wordy garbage. Case in point:

I tried to get this right, but I think I could have done better. Mealy-mouthed talk of career transitions suck. “I got laid off” is better.

But I should have gone with “Corteva, as part of a plan to spend more on stock buybacks than payroll in 2025, unilaterally terminated my employment.”

An entire political movement founded on uncovering hidden messages in documents to discover the powerful secret pedophiles and meanwhile the powerful pedophiles out here sending gmails saying "Hi fellow pedophile when are we meeting to do pedophilia again"
Disgusting.

In an email on Sept. 11, 2013, Mr. Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, wrote to Mr. Epstein, “It was really nice seeing you yesterday.” He added: “Any time you’re in the area would love to see you. As long as you bring your harem!”
