In my head I read this as Zelensky walking in a pub and separating the two midst bar brawl.

Probably not Beijing's problem if a couple of their people got a bit leery after some refreshments.
NEW: President Zelensky says Ukrainian forces have captured two Chinese nationals fighting in Donetsk.

He has requested an explanation from Beijing.

Id laugh if it wasn't just all disgusting.

My wife knocked up a quick birthday cake. I questioned, in the current climate, the wisdom of including Hitler-pig.

I've just bought Rift of the NecroDancer after loving the demo and the previous Crypt.

If only I could find some time when I wasn't exhausted to actually enjoy it.

Institution HR have sent around a survey about our Professional Development Review system.

I am not in the mood to be engaging constructively with this sort of bullshit.

Went to the excellent @portalbookshop.bsky.social at the weekend and spent the book token (and a bit more) that they generously gifted out in a draw a few weeks ago.

Thank you and long may you continue to keep my to-be-read pile growing!

Your annual reminder that no one who works in a restaurant wants to work on Christmas Day, they're there because the owners (who will be at home with their families) want more money. You can make it unprofitable to open by simply not booking a restaurant on that day

Photos threw this one up of my two when they were tiny kittens. This Christmas is two years since Freja died and three since Odin. I still miss my cats so much. #ProofOfCat

I'm really struggling to draw Lillipup. Second row on the right is a thing of nightmares.

Sorting out with the 12yo what they are getting the 7yo for Christmas.

Conclusion: a whoopee cushion.

I have brought them up well.

And it isn't even as if this is new. I was in meetings twelve or so years ago where student support and academic departments were raising exactly these issues and admissions and finance raised two fingers and said kerching.
This. Overseas students are being failed by UK university's admissions policies, which - contra Stern's breathtakingly false declarations - regularly fail to ensure students can understand even conversational English. 1/2
This needs less focus on the students and more on the dodgy deals between VCs and recruiters like The Student Group, Vivienne Stern's denial of something that is apparent to even the most casual observer is cynicism of the finest order.

I love* the way my eldest's school advertises its ableist attendance policy and 'competitions' with the most inaccessible (and eye burningly ugly) documents.

Today one of London’s Overground lines officially becomes the Mildmay Line.
In the 1980s, before effective treatment, the Mildmay Hospital pioneered AIDS care.
In 1987 Princess Diana famously shook hands with a patient there, a small gesture of solidarity which made front pages across the world.

This phrase also doubles up as the way to introduce Lionel Richie to a Geordie.

(Not sure this gag will travel, tbh. I apologise in advance)

The first film I remember watching left me with deep emotional scars.

I was five or six and went to a sleepover. We watched E.T.

I was terrified by it. I think it triggered the fear of the dark that lasted into my teens.

I still don't think I have watched the film all the way through since.
