Yesterday afternoon I successfully set my Mac back to factory settings after I saw that system data was taking up 200 GB on a 500 GB device.
I’ve barely used it since, yet on logging in this morning it’s back up to 50 GB.
How’s that even possible?!

More great work from ChatGPT 🙄

Time to have clever people explain things to me: why does Speedtest show my download speed is around 17Mbps yet when I download from Dropbox, my Mac says it’s happening at around 1Mbps…?

Your chance to help me understand something I really ought to understand already.
My Mac’s filling up so I’ve looked to see what’s taking up space: 42GB in documents.
But the files appear to be in dropbox, according to the file path. So deleting them wouldn’t free up space from
My Mac? Or would it?

Unless you know the app/company, you’ll never guess whose “2025 unwrapped” this is from 🤪
Go on, have a guess…

Why on earth would “Siri Suggestions” suggest something related to an Arsenal match from February 2015…?

Don’t spoil the surprise for her, but I’ve bought my elderly mum a year’s Which Tech Support so she doesn’t bombard me with questions.
She may well struggle to activate her membership though…a problem which could be solved by* Which Tech Support…which won’t yet be active. 🤪

*or by me, i suppose 🙄

I hate to be ‘that guy’ (no I don’t…) and yes can be bought as part of a special offer and also a BOGOF - but £2.89 for a 750ml bottle of water at Watford Junction station?!
At that price, they can indeed bog off.

The power of branding/the innocence of youth.
On TV was a photo of a jar of marmite infused with 0% Guinness.
My seven year old daughter saw it and asked me “why is the book of records anything to do with a jar of marmite?!”

There’s always (often) a mojo angle: the reporters recording Salah on their iPhones during THAT interview are holding their devices upside down. They have the lenses at the top, when the mic is on the bottom.

Another example of where AI will work - unless you know reality.
All the “photos” are close enough that on first glance, they’re fine. But look closely, they’re clearly AI.
No doubt quicker to generate them than find them; plus cheaper, as I bet there aren’t usage rights for AI photos.
Depressing.
December 6, 2025 at 10:18 PM
Depressing to note that this “premium quality” jigsaw is clearly AI-generated.
How do the passengers get on or off the bus to the left when there’s no door? What’s the number plate of the taxi? What time is Big Ben showing?

In a recursive kind of way, it feels like rage bait that “rage bait” has been named the _word_ of the year.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Rage bait named word of the year 2025 by Oxford University Press
The phrase - meaning to get angry scrolling through social media - beats aura farming and biohack to the title.

I’m an irregular user of Instagram and after giving it another go, I don’t think I’ll be going back very often.

Downloaded an app which said it would scan my iPhone and free up lots of space.

Not sure what I’ll do with all this extra capacity now 🙄

Just got one of these - the first time I’ve ever seen one.

I can’t add a poll so reply with a letter.

Have you had a King Charles coin (not note)?
A/ I’ve had loads
B/ I’ve had a few
C/ I’ve never had one
D/ not in UK so doesn’t apply

Really impressive to see this origami explanation from nano banana.

Step one - get a piece of grey square paper
Step two - by now it should be folded into the shape of an elephant.

Should I? I have never done so before, but always with a nagging feeling of “maybe THIS time, I’ll regret not having it”

This is where reporting on cricket must be the best job in sport, for some.
You’re being paid to watch cricket; you’ve been flown to Australia to watch it; the game has just ended three days early.
You have three spare days in Australia. The next Test isn’t until December 4th. Lucky buggers. 😂

Shout out to this developer who asked me to rate their app BEFORE I’d finished the onboarding to actually use it 🤨
