You have to admire a cinematic adaptation of a literary classic that admits up front, “Can’t do it. Maybe we can do SOME of it.” So it goes with PASSAGES FROM JAMES JOYCE’S FINNEGAN’S WAKE, which looks at an absurdist, nonsensical melange of language and decides to just do some of that. Slainte.

Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

I have spent my entire adult life being lectured by Republican politicians and conservative legal movement types about how important it is to preserve the sacred constitutional right to self-defense of *specifically this person* and then secret police murdered him in the street
