Podcast journalist, editor, train nerd, unapologetically trans and queer. Will likely rant about a movie or Discworld at some point. Ride or die physical media defender. 35 (they/them).
I'm gonna say it: unless Tony starts literally running a deli at some point in the next four seasons, I feel like y'all really oversold the amount of gabagool content in The Sopranos.
Nearly done with season 2 of The Sopranos.

I'm liking how this season has done some mythmaking for Tony Soprano The Public Figure. It's good to remind the audience that there's a reason the normies are terrified of him after season one did a lot of undermining of that by showing his neurosis.

You can tell Democrats fucked up bad by how there hasn't been a single Edmund Fitzgerald post on my timeline that isn't also a joke about the shutdown being for nothing.

(Gabriel remembers this, the following is to you)

Hey remember when a company rolled up with a "warchest" of $100,000,000 claiming they were gonna fund so many podcasts and then they made like five audio fiction shows? One of which never actually came out?
Every New Startup: We are here to revolutionize fiction podcasting. We are here to give indie fiction creators the support they need to make their shows a reality.

Fiction Podcasters: The money we need to - ?

Startup: No, not that that.

Most of them do not need help getting connected to actors or musicians or technicians. Chances are they're excited to make art *with their friends*.

What fiction podcasters actually need help with - the thing that stops shows from being made - is lack of budget.

Budget to pay for all of the above.

This question is central to the way I approach covering trans issues.
When folks write things designed to make you panic, you should take a breath and ask - is this designed to make me engage? Or is it actually trying to inform?

What sucks most about tonight is people reposting stuff from an hour ago that was still hopeful, which has made the Following tab a game of nonlinear storytelling trying to figure out what's doomposting, what's cope, and what actually happened.

You can tell how the rich people were genuinely upset about Mamdani by how they spent less than the marketing budget of a Marvel movie.

Every time they try to pay to make a thing happen politically they nickle-and-dime it.

Also fucking lmao "growing crackdown" my college's paper ran a story pointing out our administration was restricting free speech by intentionally making protesters hang out at "free speech zones" that, conveniently, were away from foot traffic. In 2016.
Nobody could have predicted this:

Halo: Infinite is dying and there's not really a cohesive community to mourn it.

Sure would be a shame if someone had, back in the multiplayer beta, identified problems that would lead to that... gavingaddis.com/2021/11/28/h...
Halo: Infinite Isolation
The newest entry in the Halo franchise combines all the latest microtransaction schemes together to make one of the loneliest multiplayer experiences I’ve ever experienced.

On the one hand: it's cool that Ancestry dot com makes it easy to see other family trees made with the person you're looking at so you can pool research resources with other users.

On the other: Man... these old people suck at basic logic when building family trees.

Dropout's Crowd Control is the fandom's worse nightmare because it's a place where pretentious fans can get mercilessly roasted for lying about being special by a standup comic they kinda know from TikTok.

I kid you not, one of the CGI Thomas the Tank Engine movies is about him finding a tunnel to a forgotten island where three redneck American logging locomotives have been left to their own devices for years.
