In 2015 or so we went hard on the Google home minis. They were almost magical. Great at interpreting our intent and answering questions from solid sources. They got progressively dumber until earlier this year when they switched to being backed by Gemini NLP. /1

This woman's response is heartbreaking. The complete inability of sign guy to even briefly empathize is gross. Not even a hint of "well shit, that's awful, maybe there's nuance here..."

AI-cautious friends. I've kept AI away from my kids and learning. My youngest wants to learn to program a specific thing for Minecraft, and I think AI might be pretty good at guiding him through the process. Any advice for providing guardrails?

The next Dem administration needs to revoke these pay-for-pardons and force SCOTUS to rule on whether POTUS can pardon via bribe and or pardon for crimes committed at the behest of the President.
Trump is invading American cities to nominally address crime, and I think the scale of his pardon-sprees should be given more political salience
